"The anti-fog innovation is a huge advance for hazmat responders and chemical workers, 
where seeing better means working safer," said Laura Kappler-Roberts, president and CEO 
of Kappler, Inc. "The response has been tremendous, which is really gratifying considering 
how long the industry has been trying to solve this problem."


With OSHA fine increases of 80 percent taking effect in August 2016, violations for 
inappropriate or inadequate eyewash and shower equipment have resulted in penalties 
above $100,000.
  

Early industry declines in hearing loss coincided with a period when many food companies adopted policies requiring ear plugs in their plants. Current trends suggest an upgrade in 
this type of personal protection equipment (PPE) may be warranted, but a simpler fix might improve the overall picture: ear plug training and education.


Many fire departments have changed their policies to ensure that protective gear is worn 
properly and for the entire duration of a call. Common complaints are typically that the 
additional layer in the high temperature is uncomfortable.

recently spoke to Business Insurance reporter Joyce Famakinwa at the 2017 National Safety Council Congress & Expo in Indianapolis about the future of workplace safety, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration and workplace safety within a

Senators from both sides of the aisle are working together to try to make OSHA's Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) a permanent part of federal occupational safety and health law. 
A bill introduced by Republican Mike Enzi of Wyoming and Michael Bennet, a Colorado 
Democrat, would codify the popular program that encourages worksites to go beyond 
compliance regulations to boost worker well-being.

Hosted by the Colchester Firefighters Association, the Live Fire Training Tour saw 60 
firefighters from all over the county participate in a weekend of hands-on training from 
Draeger Safety Canada.
