USMC AV-8B HARRIER
TO APPEAR AT THE STUART AIR SHOW

(Stuart, FL) August 14, 2018 - Organizers of the Audi Stuart Air Show have announced that Marine Attack Squadron 231 is scheduled to appear on November 3 and 4, 2018 at the 29th Annual Audi Stuart Air Show. This will be the first time since 2014 that the AV-8B Harrier has appeared at the Audi Stuart Air Show.

"We are honored to have been selected as one of the few venues for the AV-8B Harrier capabilities demonstration this year. These Marines are taking time from real world training to come to Stuart showcasing this aircraft's capabilities, not only as an aerial performer but also providing a static aircraft for our community to see up close." said Dewey Vinaya Vice President and Air Operations Coordinator for the Audi Stuart Air Show. "This aircraft is an amazing example of the United States Marine Corps finest and I am excited to be able to showcase it this year."

The AV-8B Harrier demonstration will consist of an 8-10-minute display of the aircraft's capabilities, including a 90-degree climbing turn, a high-speed pass over the runway, and a vertical take-off and landing in front of the crowd. These maneuvers represent those executed in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom as well as at sea aboard Naval vessels.

With the ability to operate both in day and night, the AV-8B Harrier is used in combat operations to engage surface and air targets, escorting helicopters, and conducting air direct support.

The aircraft is based out of Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. Marine Attack Squadron 231 (VMA-231) is a United States Marine Corps fixed wing attack squadron that consists of AV-8B Harrier (V/STOL) jets. The squadron, known as the "Ace of Spades", falls under the direct command of Marine Aircraft Group 14 (MAG-14) and the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing.

Harriers remain vital to our Nation's success and continue to be a critical asset to ground forces in Afghanistan and around the world.

Also confirmed to perform both Saturday and Sunday of the air show is the United States Airforce F-16 Viper Demonstration Team. Aerobatic performances scheduled to perform throughout the weekend include newcomers Phillip 66 AeroStars, Rob Holland, Matt Younkin, Bob Carlton, Chef Pitts as well as Kyle Franklin with a Dracula Solo Bi-Plane, Vampire Airshows, and the Class of 45, an act that incorporates a Corsair and P-51 Mustang.

The Audi Stuart Air Show will be held at Martin County Airport - Witham Field on Saturday, November 3 and Sunday, November 4. Pre-sale tickets for the 2018 air show are $15 each. Prices jump to $25 at the gate.   Special pricing for Veterans and Youth is also available.
