I hope that you all enjoyed the nice long weekend. I want you to know that I prayed for all of our St. Ambrose families and their special intentions while I was on retreat last week.

Yesterday's picture day went well, and I am very grateful to our volunteers for making the day go so smoothly.

On Friday, our 6 th and 7 th graders will take a field trip to Hemlock Overlook, for some adventure and team-building. Let's pray for good weather.

Please join us next Saturday evening for our PTO sponsored wine-tasting event. This is an opportunity to become "sommeliers" for the evening! It begins at 7:00 pm in the school gym. Then the next day we will continue to fun with our annual parish picnic at 1:00 pm. Our PTO will be running some of the games and we look forward to enjoying some fun, friends and food!

More exciting events are on the horizon, so keep checking the Buzz for information.

H ave a blessed week.

Coat Drive

Our ANNUAL COAT AND WINTER WEAR DRIVE will run from 1 November through 30 November.  Please start thinking about cleaning those coats and winter wear that your family will no longer be wearing.  We again ask you to donate only washed or dry-cleaned items which you would have your own family wear.  We love to get brand new items as well!  Contributions from St. Ambrose School have been wonderful in the past years, so let's make it another very successful drive to help those in need.

What is Sitting Disease?

The sitting disease is related to the increasing epidemic of sitting down for too long. Experts believe that our sedentary lifestyles are having a tremendous negative impact on our health, playing a part in causing long-term and serious complications, including;
  • Obesity,
  • Type II diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • A higher risk of getting certain kinds of cancer
The adverse health risks of sitting down for extended periods have long been established, and although the term sitting disease is gathering momentum, and regularly used by medical professionals; it is yet to be officially recognized as a diagnosable condition. However, this is probably only a matter of time, with increasing evidence to suggest that sitting down specifically, as opposed to just general inactivity, is extremely harmful for our long-term health.
