Dear Colleagues:
It's Homecoming weekend, and we're ready!
As I prepare for this weekend of celebrations each year, I always spend some time looking through the yearbooks of classes that are hosting reunions. There are seven classes this year that have organized special celebrations, and I have looked at each of their
Odontos yearbooks to get an idea of what was happening during their time in Postle Hall.
One of the many satisfying things about going through these yearbooks is seeing the ever-increasing number of alumni I have come to know throughout my years as dean of our college. It makes reunion events even more exciting because I'm able to connect with so many people I have met individually at other gatherings. Such connections help me put all their stories together, linking class to class, and giving me a more comprehensive view of how our college has evolved over the years. It also helps me to more fully appreciate our college's rich and proud history and its longstanding traditions.
My review of past issues of
Odontos also informs me about the college's administration and faculty from years gone by. I see photos of people, some of whom I know well and others whom I have only heard of. And I read the captions that tell a little more about these individuals who helped shape our college's identity and create memories for our graduates. These people were instrumental in making us what we are today, and for this I am so grateful.
As Homecoming is just around the corner, our students, staff, and faculty are busy getting ready for the weekend's many activities. We've got a day-long CE program for Post College Assembly; a float for the parade that looks like another first-place prize winner; a tent full of alumni and friends who will join us for our tailgate; a great display of large posters that show images of our new facility; and lots of surprises for those who attend the special class reunions. Yes, we
are ready!
For the many alumni who will return to campus this weekend, welcome back! I look forward to visiting with you and hearing about your time in Postle Hall. It will also be my pleasure to share with you all the exciting and unprecedented things that are going on in our college. For those of you who are not able to join us for Homecoming weekend, please check our college website next week so you can see the celebrations for yourself, and maybe even rediscover some of your friends and former classmates!
Go Bucks!

Baby Boomers and Beyond: Treating Geriatric and Special Needs Patients: Friday, November 3
Join us for this course that
addresses the challenges associated with providing dental care for geriatric and special needs patients.
By 2030, more than one-fifth of Americans will be over the age of 65. Older patients are more likely to experience heart disease, diabetes, dementia, and different oral disease patterns. Their risk of cancer and other health issues also increases, along with issues related to polypharmacy.
These and other topics will be discussed in addition to case presentations. Dentists, hygienists, and assistants will gain valuable knowledge about ways to provide care for today's geriatric and special needs patients.
