Sharing Our Faith - October 11th, Feast of Saint John XXIII
SAINT JOHN XXIII
John XXIII was a  pope  in the  Roman Catholic Church . The popes are the leaders of the church. He was pope from 1958 to 1963. John XXIII was one of the most-popular popes of all time. He began a new era in the church with his openness to change. He was made a  saint  of the church in 2014.
With most saints, we celebrate their feast days on their day of death which is the day they entered heaven. With Saint John XXIII, we celebrate his feast day on the anniversary of the first session of Vatican Council because it was a very important meeting in our Church's history that took place because of him, during his time as pope.

The Parish Oktoberfest is coming up! Please remember that each family MUST do 4 hours of service on any of the days, Friday Set Up, Saturday Festival, Sunday Festival, or Monday break down. What an excellent way to get involved in the life of the parish and to set an example of service for your child(ren)! As a ministry within the parish, we are very fortunate to receive substantial financial support from Fr. Edwin to help with tuition assistance for many families and operational expenses. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU SIGN UP FOR A SLOT WITH OUR PARENT FESTIVAL REPRESENTATIVE, MS. SONIA CABRERA. Please call her asap if you have not signed up yet at 323.702.4345. YOU'RE HELP IS VITAL TO THE SUCCESS OF THE PARISH FESTIVAL! All 153 families have agreed to help with this community event per the family contract that was signed earlier this year. Come help and stay and enjoy a fun weekend with other school/parish families.
Students in the Variety Show/Falcon Follies who are participate in the Parish Talent Show on 10/13 will earn the 4 hours of service for their families! Parent Guild Meeting

Our first trimester Parent Guild Meeting will be held on Thursday, October 25 at 7pm. 8th grade parents are asked to arrive at 6pm to go over high school application procedures.

ARE YOU RECEIVING 'REMIND' TEXT MESSAGES?

All parents/guardians are asked to make sure to sign up for 'Remind' text messages. It is very vital that each parent or guardian sign up to receive important information that is sent out from school. Please don't miss any messages! Sign up info is found near the door of your child's classroom.

VIRTUS TRAINING

Parents who plan to volunteer at school during the coming school year must be Virtus trained. Virtus is the child safety training program that all adults who work and volunteer around children at church or school must complete. It focuses on appropriate interactions with children. There is no cost to you. Virtus certification must be updated every four years through a 1 1/2 hour re-certification class. You must complete Virtus 1 before doing a re-certification. The safety of our children is extremely important to all. Please be sure to attend a training if you plan on volunteering/helping out at school.

To find locations for Virtus training please click on the link below and scroll to (Archdiocese of) Los Angeles location. St. Ignatius falls under the San Fernando Region, but you may attend a Virtus class in any of the five Regions in LA County.

Please be sure to obtain a certificate and bring it to the school office so we can make a copy for our files. All Staff, Parent Board, Room Parents, and Volunteers must be Virtus trained for the safety of our students.
Financial Responsibilities

A friendly reminder to all families who are making tuition payments on the 5th of the month that payment is now past due.
Thank you to those who have submitted their SmartTuition payments, or stopped by to take care of their payments.
Our program cannot run with out everyone's cooperation in paying the tuition payments that were agreed upon in the family contract. We are so grateful that you value your child's Catholic education and make your consistent payments so that our teachers and staff can receive their salaries. Our teachers are paid well under what public school teachers make, and work just as hard. They are truly an example of living out the ministry of education. We are blessed to have them.
FALCON FOLLIES WAS A GREAT SUCCESS!

Our annual variety show, the Falcon Follies, took place last Thursday night to a packed house. Our talented students did an amazing job performing. Thanks to Ms. Fitzpatrick and all those who made this annual event possible, and very special thanks to the teachers who gave up their evening to perform with our 8th graders! You have another opportunity to see our students in the parish talent show this Saturday! Don't miss it!
In N Out Fundraiser Coming Soon

Be on the look-out for In N Out order forms. The In N Out truck will be at our school on Monday, October 29th to cook delicious burgers for our students and their family members. See you there!
Did You Know? ... Delinquent Tuition Policy
DELINQUENT TUITION POLICY 2018-2019
After one missed tuition payment, the office will send out an invoice and an email to remind the parents/guardians of the missed tuition payment. After two missed tuition payments, the principal will contact the parents/guardians to remind them of their missed payment, develop a payment plan for the past tuition owed, and set a date for payment within two weeks of the missed payment.

If the payments are not made on the date set by the principal and parents/guardians, the student will need to remain home until the payments are made and the account is up to date. The principal will contact the parents/guardians to request that they keep their child(ren) at home. If the issue persists, delinquent payments may result in late fees and in serious cases, dismissal of the student from the school. Parents may be asked to meet with the financial committee made up of the principal, office manager, and bookkeeper, in order to develop a plan to meet their obligation to the school. A Collection Agency may be employed out of justice to the school. Report cards and transcripts may be withheld until all financial obligations to the school have been met. Archdiocesan policy prevents other Catholic schools from admitting families with delinquent tuition accounts.
