King of Prussia Business Improvement District Comparative Location Analysis
ESI recently completed a comparative location analysis for King of Prussia Business Improvement District. The study examined how King of Prussia compared to eight nearby suburban jurisdictions as a business location.

Designing Futures for Equitable Neighborhoods in Philadelphia 
ESI was pleased to host a unique workshop during the 2018 DesignPhiladelphia Festival on Oct 5. Sr. Advisor Natalie Nixon, together with colleagues Tayyib Smith and Rob Fleming. Attendees worked collaboratively to imagine a future with equitable opportunities.
Real Estate Roundtable 
ESI will be hosting a roundtable on October 25 to discuss pressing and important issues currently affecting the real estate industry. The discussion will involve experts in the field and will be live tweeted from ESI's twitter, @econsultsolutns, make sure to follow along!

Staff and Senior Advisors News
We are pleased to welcome to the staff our newest research assistants, Delsea Albanese  and Navneet Singh . They are both part of the Drexel co-op program and will be with us for the next several months.
Stephen Mullin moderated the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission's Futures Group's session "Current Trends in Globalization," and addressed Boeing's Leadership Association during its 2018 Fall Dinner. 
Richard Voith will be speaking at the program "Building Smart & Sustainable Cities and Regions: Current Trends Globally, Nationally and Locally" on October 18.
Lee Huang will lead the session on Higher Education Ecosystems as Engines of Change at the University Economic Development Association's 2018 conference, Disruptive Economic Development, Oct 21-21, Milwaukee, WI. 
Alan Greenberger is the 2018 Chairman for the 31st Annual Wyck-Strickland Award, to be presented November 8.
 Natalie Nixon spent two weeks in Shenzhen, China as a Chief Mentor for the Asia Pacific Innovation Academy, an entrepreneur accelerator. Natalie also led ESI's DesignPhiladelphia workshop, Oct 5.
Hilary Jay is involved with a newly founded non-profit, The Philadelphia Design District (PDD) located in Old City. The launch of PDD "Sensory Design" will take place in 12 Old City galleries, from Oct 6-13.
Sidney Wong will be a guest speaker at the University of Hong Kong where he will address western planning in China before the Revolution and American property taxation and China's value capture. Following that Sidney will travel to Beijing to conduct archival studies and oral interviews at Tsinghua University as well as leading a seminar at the University of Hong Kong on Oct. 24.
Richard Bickel will attend the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Planning Association's annual conference in Erie, PA, Oct. 14-16. Richard will participate in an Ethics session while at the conference.
Catherine Timko will travel to Cleveland, Ohio to present the Ohio City Plan with ESI SVP & Principal, Peter Angelides.
Bernard Markstein wrote articles for the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) estimating July and August state construction unemployment rates; Bernie also contributed to The Daily Reporter, and is quoted in Bank Rate. In addition, he is featured on a podcast with Peggy Smedley discussing tariffs and their impact on the construction industry.

ESI ThoughtLab, WSJ Pro Cybersecurity and a coalition of organizations specialized in cybersecurity will release  The Cybersecurity Imperative later this month.  The global benchmarking study examines cybersecurity practices and how businesses are embracing the latest technologies to respond to rising privacy and security concerns.

Old City District will unveil its State of Old City report, Oct. 16. The report was completed by ESI together with JVM Studios.

DVRPC will be hosting an event called "Growing Greater Philadelphia: Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Stakeholder Meeting" to discuss the future of the region's economy.


The North Broad Renaissance is two years into its five-year-plan to revitalize the stretch of North Broad St. between City Hall and Germantown Ave. ESI's Brittany Forman and Brooke Queenan attended the event.
