Principal's Message
No vember 10, 2017
Dear Families and Friends of OLQP:
One of the best parts of serving as principal at OLQP is being able to visit every classroom and see every student "in action." Both informal and formal observations happen regularly. "Best practice" is identified. Student achievement is reviewed. Strategies to improve instruction are shared in grade level groups. Work is done continually to improve the program and improve student outcomes for each child.
This week, in the STREAM lab, some students worked on building a "Ziggurat Marble Run" with a design goal to have the longest functioning marble track. This project involved critical thinking, engineering, and creativity. I was able to observe another class proving mathematically which way a marble would drop based on the formula provided. Opportunities for both concrete and abstract experiences are being provided. It is so exciting to see and hear students discussing, sharing, and ruminating about what the next step is or why a certain solution was used. The process of discovery and shared learning experiences under the tutelage of master teachers is education at its best. It is exciting to that happening every day at OLQP where we all work together to "Instill knowledge and Inspire Faith" every day.
Thank you for being part of the mission and ministry of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,
Mrs. Marianne Mechura, M.Ed.

Private Schools Interscholastic Association and More!
It is PSIA season! In addition to Robotics Club, Chess Club, Select Choir, Boys Basketball, and Girls Basketball, we have an additional 40 students dismissing at 4:30 each day of the week. Please help us keep the children safe by:

Noting where pick up is for your child's event of the                   day (either gym or front of school)

Noting when your child's practice ends. Pick up on                    time.

When picking up in the front, please pull all the                          way down to the end of the building (the Pre-K pick-                  up area). The adult on duty will walk your child to the                car. This will ensure that we do not stack traffic on                      the highway while loading students safely using                          established school standards.

Please note that if children are not picked up on                        time, they will be dropped in to extended day.

Thank you for your assistance!

Recycling Opportunity to Benefit OLQP STREAM Lab
The STREAM Lab is a very busy place. STREAM runs on teacher talent, student enthusiasm, STEM SCOPES curriculum that has been tailored to fit our school, materials purchased with grants, gifts, and more. In addition to the "hardscape," there are many consumables that are used in a variety of activities. Please consider sending the following items to school with your child earmarked for STREAM:
  • paper towel tubes
  • toilet paper tubes
  • shoe boxes
  • miscellaneous parts (nuts, bolts, gears, pipe, magnets etc.)
  • old craft supplies (string, ribbon, beads, paint,  etc.)
  • old toys (Lego's, building blocks, Hotwheels)
