Wine and Music Lovers Organ Concert
4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 14
Geoffrey Graham, our parish organist, will perform his annual autumn concert with a special tip of the hat to California wines. Four selections from The California Wine Suite, Opus 40, by Hans Uwe Hielscher will be featured. The selections coincide with the performer's four favorite wine varieties.
The program opens with an extravagant French Baroque Fanfare-Dialogue by Charles Piroye. The concert also includes two tangos, and a minimalist/jazz composition by Dutch composer Ad Wammes, whose pieces have become favorites of the congregation. A tasting of California wines with fruit and cheese will add a fitting end to the afternoon. Be sure to mark your calendar for this free concert and bring a friend or two!

You're Invited....
Stewardship Campaign
Thank you
to everyone who has already submitted their pledge
. Fifty-four families have committed $212,000 towards the operating expenses in 2019. We hope that every parishioner will participate at some level.
It's that time of year again - our annual giving season continues this month. It culminates in a festive Ingathering Celebration on Sunday, November 18 at both services with mimosas and a bagel bar at 9:00 a.m.
Stewardship is about life, the whole of life. It's living the life God invites us to live - living more generously, more boldly and more faithfully. That's why at Christ Church we do not have a stewardship drive - instead we have an annual pledge drive to enable us to answer GOD'S Invitation to join God at Work in the World.
Pledging allows the vestry and staff to anticipate the annual income for 2019 and budget accordingly enabling us to RSVP to the generous GOD whom we worship and serve. Pledge cards have been mailed and are available in the parish office, at the entry to the church and the Welcome Tent. Online pledging is also an option s

Episcopal Schools Celebration October 7-13, 2018
"Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed"
Episcopal Schools Celebration (ESC) celebrates the ministry of the nearly 1,200 Episcopal schools and early childhood education programs throughout the Episcopal Church. ESC is the time to give thanks and to proclaim the good news that is our school.
Bishop Katharine Jefferts-Schori will visit day school chapel tomorrow morning to celebrate with us!
National Association of Episcopal Schools is the only pre-collegiate educational association that is both national in scope and Episcopal in character. The Association advances Episcopal education and strengthens Episcopal schools through essential services, resources, conferences, and networking opportunities on Episcopal school identity, leadership, and governance, and on the spiritual and professional development of school leaders.

Our gratitude muscles will be strengthened with this forum designed to energize the foundational spiritual practice of gratitude. So g
rab your coffee and join us in Hinde Hall for this Sunday's forum.
- October 21 - Money, Money, Money - as a Spiritual Practice - Jesus frequently talks about money in the gospels, so we will too as we continue our journey as the Episcopal branch of the Jesus Movement.
- October 28 - Praying with Beads - A proven prayer practice which we will explore in this session of The Way of Love.

Christ Church will be honoring
Dia de los Muertos as part of our All Saints Day celebration this year. Celebrating this holiday enriches the body of the church with a renewed understanding of this ancient custom. It reminds us that we are the People of the Resurrection, followers of the Risen Christ.
On
Sunday, November 4th, there will be a traditional
Dia de los Muertos ofrenda (altar) set in the Memorial Garden. A traditional altar usually includes pictures of the departed, candles, marigolds, pan de muerto, and many other items. We would like to invite you to bring in
photographs of your departed loved ones to include on the ofrenda. Pictures should be 4 x 6, or smaller, and be in a frame.
The Christ Church Middle School Youth Group will be preparing pan de muerto and setting the altar on November 3. All
pictures should be brought to the Christ Church office no later than November 1st. Please contact
Charlette Preslar, with any questions.

Thanksgiving Food Drive
Begins this Sunday!

|
Thanksgiving help
|
It's time again for the annual
Thanksgiving food drive.
Our church and day school have been so generous in years past with helping low income families in our community celebrate the joys of the holiday without stretching their already tight budgets.
Once again we'll be distributing our bags via
St. Mark's,
St. Alban's,
Uptown Faith, St. Luke's, the
Episcopal Church Center, and to
military families right here in Coronado. We were able to buy peas and carrots and cranberry sauce in bulk through
Feeding San Diego for just 50 cents per can for the vegetables and 57 cents per can for the sauce!
We're asking your help to gather the remaining items:
- October 7 - Cornbread mix
- October 14 - Mashed potatoes and gravy packets
- October 21 - Stuffing mix
- October 28 - Yams
- November 4 - Desserts
- November 11 - Grocery gift cards - $10 each
