Hello Everyone,
I hope you are able to make the best of our current situation and enjoy the complementary workouts from Les Mills, take long walks or bike rides with your family, or perhaps revisit old hobbies that haven't made the cut in the past. Then again, you may just be missing Bay Club and going crazy, which leads me to the following, somewhat encouraging, news.
While the city has extended the stay-at-home proclamation until April 30th, the Governor hasn't extended the Executive Order past 4/8/20 that closes non-essential businesses, but based on the lasted data it will most likely get extended to April 30th, as well.
Check out this link: the curve suggests Maine will peak on April 25th with a fairly quick, gradual, recovery through May, then flat in June. You can check out each state.
Of course, even the stay-at-home order allows for "essential" destinations to operate. This leads me to my next bit of encouraging news. I was at the liquor store last week and it occurred to me that if they are essential without many guidelines, why can't Bay Club be? My point isn't to close them down (I was getting my vino :)), but I have sent my personal request to the Governor sharing reasons we could/should be "essential" with the following guidelines.
- I personally manage a schedule on line of 6-8 members per hour.
- I personally work the 9-5 shift.
- I personally clean/sanitize the equipment after you do your part.
- Personal Training at a 6 ft distance
- Social Distancing (you can have 1000 square feet of your own)
- No group fitness, steam, sauna, showers
- 2 spinners at a time in virtual perhaps?
It's worth a try. I'll keep you posted and hope we can resume some semblance of routine in May. Thanks to many of you for your support through April; I'm still here everyday working on projects.
Take good care, and don't hesitate to call me or reply to this email if you just want to chat about your workouts or how you are missing the club.
