A Message From Mayor Steve Noble:
Dear Friends,

You might notice in this week's newsletter that we are asking you a lot of questions.  With the launch of the 2018 budget process, I want your input into what you see as the top priorities and areas of concern. That is why I hosted my second annual Community Budget Forum and am asking you to fill out this survey.

As we move forward with changes to our parking policies, I want to hear from you about how we should handle issues such as snow emergency parking or annual permits for the lots. That is why I am hosting three community forums about parking.

And as the Ulster County Transportation Council finalizes the  Ulster County Transit Systems Integration Plan, I want to know how our transportation system has worked for you or if the service could be improved. That is why we are sharing their online survey and helping to share paper copies throughout the city.

I am committed to building an open and accessible government, but I need your help.  Whether it's filling out a survey or participating in one of our community forums, I encourage each of you to join the discussion.

-Steve

Parking Permits Now Available

Frequent users of the City of Kingston's municipal lots are encouraged to purchase a parking permit in advance of the installation and activation of new payment stations in six of the City's municipal lots. The cost of the permit is $10 and the permit is valid through December 31, 2017.

By purchasing a parking permit, users are able to park in six of the City's municipal lots without having to pay the set rate of 75 cents per hour. The parking lots include: all 3 North Front St. lots; the Cornell St. lot; the Prince St. lot; and the Dock St. lot. Signage will be present to inform drivers of whether a lot has paid parking or not.

How to apply for a parking permit:
  • Permits can be purchased online by visiting www.kingston-ny.gov/parking and following the instructions. Major credit cards are accepted for payment.
  • Permits can be purchased by mail by either downloading the PDF application at www.kingston-ny.gov/parking or picking up a paper application in person at City Hall at 420 Broadway in Kingston. Applicants are responsible for mailing their completed applications and check or money order directly to the processing center referenced in the application.

City of Kingston and Ulster County Invite the Public to Weigh in On Public Transit Service
Last chance!  Electronic Survey Open Through August 31st
The Ulster County Transit Systems Integration Plan was initiated in September 2016 by the Ulster County Transportation Council (UCTC) at the request of both the City of Kingston and Ulster County.

As part of this process, the public is now being asked to participate in a general survey regarding their opinion and use of the Citibus and UCAT services. You don't have to be a rider to participate - all opinions are welcome. The survey is short (only 13 questions) and is anonymous.

Paper copies of the survey will also be made available at local community centers, senior centers, and other frequently visited areas.

The survey will contribute to the development of a plan that will allow local leaders and the public to clearly and objectively evaluate the benefits and costs associated with consolidating and improving services, particularly when considering the overlapping service areas of UCAT and Citibus.
