Spring 2018 Course Registration
Registration for spring begins on Oct. 2. Honors students, some athletes and veterans are able to register the first week, and most other first year students register in November.
Veterans who would like to take advantage of priority registration must meet with the Veterans Resource Center (VRC). The VRC i

Academic Advising
October is the time to schedule an advising appointment. Students can schedule online, stop by or call the UARC at (920) 424-1268; students should call three weeks before their registration date to schedule their appointment.
Students who are undecided about their major are urged to spend time in October exploring and researching their interests and possible options. Recommended resources and activities
can be found online.

Early Alert and Student Success Resources
Early Alert was created by faculty at UW Oshkosh to help students better track their academic progress in their courses.
Instructors are encouraged, but not required to participate in Early Alert. In these cases students should not assume they are doing OK, but rather should follow up with their instructor by email or during office hours to get their specific grade information.
Early Alert emails will be sent to students on October 11 to their UW Oshkosh email account. The email will let them know how they are doing in their 14-week classes. Email includes information about the many academic resources available at UWO to help them. Students should follow up with their instructor for guidance if they are not doing well.

Balance Due vs. Amount Due
Students who have an amount due will see a line in Titan Web under balance summary indicating the amount due or amount past due. If only a balance is showing, a payment is not due at this time. For those students on the payment plan, the next billing will occur October 11 and email reminders will be sent to students for the October 27, 2017 due date.

Want Student Account Information? Third Party Access and Student Accounts
Many family members call or email Student Accounts wanting specific information about a student's account. The Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) prohibits the release of information about a student's account unless the student has given permission.
Permission can be granted through Titan Web by clicking "Grant Access to Others." The student must specifically list the first and last names of the people they grant access to, as well as indicate the type of information that they can access.

Parents and students can apply for 2018-2019 Financial Aid anytime on or after October 1, 2017. The priority date for UW Oshkosh is December 15, 2017 and be sure to watch your Titan Web for "to do" items. It's important to get verification items in as soon as possible, as some funds are exhausted early.

Academic Works will be opening their scholarship cycle soon for the 2018-2019 financial aid year.

Student Financial Services News: Beware of Scams
As students conduct some of their first major financial transactions in life, please be sure to remind them to be cautious with how they share information and to be aware of phone and email scams. UW Oshkosh only accepts payments online through Titan Web and in-person at the Cashier's window, Second Floor of Dempsey Hall, 800 Algoma Boulevard, Oshkosh, WI 54901. If accounts are past due Student Accounts may email students at their UW Oshkosh email or call them at the phone numbers provided in Titan Web. Student Accounts will never ask for personal information or for over the phone payments. Student Accounts emails will come from

Flu Vaccination Clinics
Encourage your student to get a flu vaccination this year. The vaccine we are offering this year is a quadrivalent; containing two strains of influenza A and two strains of influenza B viruses. The fee is $15 and will be billed to the student's account. For more facts about the seasonal flu vaccine,

Student Flu Clinics will be held on the following dates/time:
- October 10, 1 - 3 p.m., Clow 2nd floor
- October 19, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m., Horizon Village Lobby
- October 24, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m., Blackhawk Commons
If your student cannot attend a flu clinic, they can make an appointment at the Student Health Center to receive their flu vaccination.

Student Advocate This web-based health and wellness magazine provides insights and tips on how to support your student's success.
For those living in the residence halls, encourage your student to find and meet their Health Advocate. The
Health Advocate can provide first aid supplies, over-the-counter medications, as well as connect them with important university resources and support.
For commuter students, we encourage scheduling an appointment at the Student Health Center, where we will connect them with all of the resources they need. There is no charge for an appointment.

Students love to receive gifts from home to remind them that they always have support throughout the semester! Whether it be your student's birthday or if it is exam week, you can give them a package that will be put together just for them by the Sodexo University Dining team!
