A New Normal: Virtual Campaigning
Trump campaign, RNC ramp up virtual outreach   amid coronavirus crisis

April 28, 2020

"The Republican National Committee and President Trump’s reelection campaign haven’t “missed a beat” due to the coronavirus outbreak when it comes to grassroots outreach, RNC officials said.

"Party officials told Fox News that since transitioning to virtual and digital efforts on March 13, Trump Victory – the name of the combined field efforts of the national party and the president’s reelection campaign – has made over 20 million voter contacts and added more than 300,000 new volunteers. The national party committee also highlighted that Trump Victory’s strategic initiative teams, which are leading the charge, have held 100 virtual events since mid-March, with over 4,000 attendees from across the country.
...

“We may not be walking neighborhoods right now, but we are still being invited into voters’ homes. Our ability to continue to engage with thousands of supporters and volunteers virtually is both a testament to the relationships we have built over the past several years within these communities and their support for the work our President and Party are doing on their behalf,' RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said.

"The RNC spotlighted that they made the switch to virtual campaigning in the span of 24 hours. And they tout that 'Trump Talk' – a voter contact tool that allows volunteers to make calls from their own homes – was instrumental in making the transition.

"They also highlighted that over 1 million volunteers have been activated and engaged. This past weekend Trump Victory made 4 million voter contacts during what it called a National Weekend of Action, RNC officials said.

"And they touted that 13 Trump Online shows this month averaged over 1 million views each. The Trump Victory digital machine is no surprise. Trump's 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale is the first person with digital roots to run a major party presidential campaign.

“The Trump Campaign has always had a significant advantage because of our early and ongoing investment in data and technological infrastructure that began in 2015. Because of those advantages, our coalitions have been able to harness, access, and reach out to millions of people online during the coronavirus pandemic,' Parscale said.

Safely Reopening America
President Trump and the White House Coronavirus Task Force continue to work with state and local officials to safely reopen America.

President Trump is working every single day to protect the health and safety of the American people. The administration’s unprecedented, comprehensive, and whole of America response to the coronavirus has been decisive and began in January. Thanks to the commitment of the American people and the CDC guidelines, there has been critical progress made in flattening the curve and it is now time to safely reopen our country.
While we continue to slow the spread, the Trump Administration continues to get supplies to those most in need and expand testing capabilities. To date, more than 6 million tests have been conducted, more than any other country. We soon could perform over 2 million tests per week. This robust testing operation is thanks to President Trump’s effort to cut red tape to allow for faster testing. The President has laid out a testing system that provides additional guidance to states to safely reopen and identify local outbreaks and hot spots before they become an issue. In addition to the unprecedented testing capabilities, the Trump Administration continues to ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is being distributed to areas most in need. Project Airbridge has completed over 80 flights carrying nearly 750 million pieces of PPE. 10,000 ventilators have been distributed. No American who has needed a ventilator has gone without one. On Friday, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany announced the Trump Administration will distribute $12 billion in Provider Relief Fund payments to 395 hospitals across the country that have been hit the hardest by the coronavirus pandemic. This has truly been a whole of America approach and throughout the pandemic, President Trump rallied the largest mobilization of the public and private sector since World War II to defeat the invisible enemy.
