Microbiology Results Now Available In Real-Time - Including COVID-19 Test Results
We know the last few weeks have been hard on everyone, particularly those in the front line in healthcare and essential services. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, our team has been working hard to ensure we are supporting MyChart users in the southwestern Ontario region as best as we can.

We heard you and are pleased to announce that we have eliminated the Microbiology delay so that you can now view your Microbiology results in real-time.

What does this mean for you? If you or a loved one have been tested for COVID-19 at a hospital, you will be able to view your test results online using MyChart.

Signing up for a MyChart account is now simpler than ever through the use of our virtual enrollment form which eliminates the need for you to come to a participating hospital. You can sign up today by visiting  https://healthrecordsonline.ca/register.

We need your help to inform people that this important tool is available to them. Our team remains fully-staffed and committed to support hospitals and health service provider organizations with current and/or future deployment activities.

We would love to hear how the use of MyChart has helped you or your organization during this crisis. Please reach out to us at
MyChart@HITSeHealth.ca to start the conversation.

We hope that signing up for a MyChart account online and being able to view your test results from home will provide you with a sense of comfort during these otherwise unsettling times!

Online Registration Now Available: What You Need to Know
Earlier in March, online account enrollment became
available  for people wishing to sign up for MyChart without having to visit a participating hospital in person.

Patients can  visit  https://healthrecordsonline.ca/register  in order to enroll for a MyChart account (if they are over the age of 12 and are requesting an account on behalf of themselves).

To initiate an account, the user must provide their name, email address, Health Card Number, Date of Birth, their closest or last hospital visited, and upload a picture of their health card and a 'selfie' picture of them holding their health card.

The user will then receive an email with a link and a 4 digit PIN within one business day of submission.
Leading the way for MyChart Deployment at BCHS
The deployment team at Brant Community Healthcare System have been working hard and are using creative methods to boost enrollment at their organization, resulting in over 500 staff members, volunteers, and staff family members registered during a recent sign-up campaign, making it one of the most successful staff campaigns the MyChart project team has seen to-date.

Danielle Myers, Director of Information Communications Technology and Chief Privacy Officer at BCHS, organized and helped launch a contest kickoff competition between staff departments to increase adoption amongst patients, which started in their D wing and Diagnostic Imaging units, and has now expanded to their diabetes, day surgery, and surgical unit. The two clerks who enroll the most patients each month of the campaign will win a dining gift card.

BCHS is also providing MyChart information to patients within their discharge packages and promoting the new virtual enrollment option at their Release of Information Office.

Primary care physicians that Danielle has engaged with are excited to hear that their patients will now have access to their test results online from the surrounding hospitals.

"MyChart is an important tool for patients as this provides them with a holistic view of their chart, rather than a siloed account," explained Myers.

Myers has also met with the community organizations involved in forming the proposed Brant Ontario Health Team to discuss how those organizations can promote MyChart and help increase awareness among their patients and clients.

"MyChart will also be a great bridge for the OHTs who are committed to providing patients with digital access to their health records," added Myers.

MyChart is helping BCHS cope with the COVID-19 pandemic, as their Release of Information office can recommend MyChart's virtual sign up to people who call for their lab results and copies of their COVID-19 tests resulted in-hospital. The MyChart project team extends their congratulations to Danielle, and the BCHS team who have demonstrated exemplary leadership with this initiative in enabling patients with easier access to their hospital records online.
