Treatment of Endocrine-Resistant Metastatic Breast Cancer

Key points:
 
* Over the last few years, the FDA has approved several new therapies that target endocrine resistance in metastatic breast cancer.
 
* Researchers are keen to develop therapies to treat resistance, and clinical trials are underway.
 
* Some clinical trials combine already approved FDA drugs, an approved therapy with a compound in development, or even a three-drug combination.
 
*Trial protocols often require patients to have a specific cancer cell alteration and/or over-amplification, and patients can discuss trial eligibility with their oncologist.

TAPUR Update

Key Points:
 
*Rolled out about two years ago, TAPUR is ASCO's first clinical trial.
 
*Patients can obtain FDA-approved drugs free-of-charge when they are no longer benefiting from any standard treatments.
 
*Patients now have the option of 17 drugs yielding 15 different targeted options.
 
*TAPUR now has 101 sites in 20 states.

9 Telephone Support Groups: Choose What Works for You
Connecting with others living with MBC can help you gather information about treatment, dealing with side effects and coping with the fear and anxiety that a metastatic diagnosis brings.  

SHARE offers 9 Telephone Support Group sessions each month in English and 1 in Spanish.  There are also 2 in-person sessions each month in our NYC office and now a group in CT too.    

A telephone group meets every Monday at 4 PM ET and the first four Thursdays of the month at 6 PM ET.  CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION
WE NEED YOU!
Calls to the metastatic helpline have increased significantly.  Our current volunteers are not always able to handle the calls.  You can take calls in your home, on your time.  We provide training and support.  

We are also in need of co-facilitators for our telephone groups.  Training is also provided for this position.
