This is a simple screenshot taken from Mrs.Hasting's video taken at the 2.22 minute mark. Here she is explaining how to access AR books plus how there is a info. provided about each book for students and parents such as the book's grade level fit and the book's AR point value.

COMMUNITY FOOTNOTE: Mrs. Hastings did a super job with the short video above. It is not long and moves at a pace quite suitable for our students. Our parents might want to take a look as well. It is VERY EASY to access ebooks online and it really takes no time to learn how to do this if you watch this 4 minute video . . . worth a look and you will be amazed at the books a student can access online!!

ADVANTAGE: Orange County Public Schools!

Worldwide School Closures as of Monday, April 13
As of Monday, over 1.57 billion students are at home as they have seen their schools closed due to the COVID-19 coronavirus. Hundreds of U.S. counties and scores of nations around the world cannot offer distance learning to keep their students' education progressing with 1/4 of the school year left undone. While it is not a perfect situation, we are so fortunate to be part of a school district that can keep our students engaged academically until this crisis has passed. We thank all of our Tangelo Park families for their daily support and understanding as we refine the process.

* Please click here or on the chart to view the day-by-day growth in students displaced from their schools through April 13 due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.

NEW!!!
Beginning April 10, Friday Grab-and-Go meals include meals for the three day weekend. Meals are available for pick-up between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., Monday through Friday, in the car loop of each school site. Friday Grab-and-Go meals will include three days worth of meals.

Students are no longer required to be present to receive the meals. Parents must provide the names of students for whom they are picking up meals. District staff will record names and distribute the meals directly to parents in their vehicles (drive-thru service).

Closing Images of the Week . . .
Spotlight on Ms. Feacher's 1st grade class!

My first Zoom Virtual Classroom was on fire the other morning! It was so good to see my kids. There were 11/17 of my digital learners and their parents present. I didn't get a picture of them all, but below are a few.

I'm looking forward to our reading lesson on Thursday.

This Week's Motivational Moment!

THE WAY TO THE TOP

A group of elementary school students from a central Florida school were in Washington, D.C. on a field trip with some of their teachers and parent chaperones. On the morning they arrived to see the Washington Monument they heard an announcement. A guide said, "Ladies and gentlemen, there is currently a two-hour wait to ride the elevator to the top of the monument." The guide then paused a moment, smiled, and added, "However, there is no wait should you desire to take the stairs."

This story reveals something about success. In truth, there are no elevators to the top. If you want to make it there, you've got to take a long series of steps. How many steps you're willing to take - and how long you're willing to keep climbing - determines how high you will go.

Be safe, follow all precautions, and keep up with your classwork this week Tigers. You can do it and remember . . . I, your teachers, and the whole staff misses you very much.
