First Community Theater Performance a Great Success

Last year, the CAHEC Foundation awarded the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center in Clarksburg, WV, a $25,000 New Markets Community Grant to help jump start their Community Theater Program. The program was designed to engage youth, young adults, and all community members through theatrical education. We are happy to report that their first production of Annie was a huge success!

Over 200 community members made up the cast, crew, staff, and volunteers. They had school-aged students from Harrison and Marion counties attend four sold-out school performances, and their four community performances were also well attended. In total, they performed for over 6,500 audience members, with many coming back more than once because they loved the production so much.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of the Robinson Grand's first Community Theater performance. We look forward to following your success over the years to come!

Tornado Displaces 41 Residents in Nashville, TN

Last month, multiple tornadoes touched down in Nashville, TN, causing over $1 billion dollars in damage to the community. Our property, East River Place Apartments, was one of the many places that sustained damage from the storm, leaving one building (18 units) uninhabitable and 41 residents displaced. Freeman Webb, the Property Management Company for the property, immediately stepped in to find new housing for their residents and in the process, connected with the CAHEC Foundation to provide Disaster Relief Assistance. We  would like to extend our gratitude to First Citizens Bank for matching our donation so that we could provide a total of $6,000 in Disaster Relief Funding to help our residents at East River Place Apartments.

With the funding they received, Freeman Webb was able to rent U-haul trucks, purchase boxes and packing tape, and provide lunches and snacks for each of the families. The Freeman Webb staff - who also brought some of their family along - volunteered their time to help the impacted families pack, move, and set up their new apartment homes. In total, they had 80 volunteers helping over three days while they relocated residents.  " We also fully refunded each resident their security deposit at East River Place and waived the security deposits and fees at the new Freeman Webb sites they were relocated too,"  explained  Kyle Collins, Director of Affordable Housing for Freeman Webb.  "We are ever so grateful for the help and support from the CAHEC Foundation during this devastating disaster."

The CAHEC Foundation is honored to work with partners that step in to support their residents in a time of crisis.
