Maricopa County Public Health - Week in Review
Announced the first deathdue to COVID-19 in Arizona and Maricopa County.
Received our first shipment of PPE and other supplies from the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS). The shipment was broken-down by our staff and volunteers and it is being redistributed to our healthcare partners throughout the county. Additional SNS shipments are anticipated, but the timing and contents of those future shipments are not yet known. Partners should continue to request PPE here.
Received and redistributed a limited supply of PPE from the State's inventory to agencies supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and EMS.
Developed new system for reporting out daily case counts and deaths on web site.
In response to the rapidly evolving situation in Arizona, Governor Doug Ducey signed several executive orders during the past week, including:
March 19 - Executive Order 2020-07 regarding Proactive Measures to Protect Against COVID-19.
March 19 - Executive Order 2020-08Limiting In-Person Motor Vehicle Division Visits for Driver License.
March 19 - Executive Order 2020-09 Limiting the Operation of Certain Businesses to Slow the Spread of COVID-19.
March 19 - Executive Order 2020-10 Delaying Elective Surgeries to Conserve Personal Protective Equipment Necessary to Test and Treat Patients with COVID-19.
March 20 - Executive Order 2020-11 Ensuring Individuals Whose Employment is Affected by COVID-19 Have Access to Unemployment Insurance
The Governor also activated the National Guard to alleviate food supply chain delays and to mitigate other impacts of COVID-19 in Arizona, and he announced the launch of the State's 2-1-1 Covid-19 Hotline.
At the national level:
On March 19, the US Department of State issued a Level 4 "Do Not Travel" advisory recommending that US citizens avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19.
The White House and CDC released 15 Days to Slow the Spread, "the President's coronavirus guidelines for America."
