Monitoring Pikas in  Rocky Mountain National Park

We recently released our  new video featuring pika research in Rocky Mountain National Park . Meet Laura Getts, a 2017 NRSS-funded summer intern. In this video, she shows us how staff monitors pikas and why they're such an important climate indicator species. You'll also have a chance to meet some of the park's volunteers as they explain this important ongoing citizen science effort.

What Moves You... Worry or Hope?

The Yale Program on Climate Change Communication recently published results from their March 2018 Climate Change in the American Mind study. The survey revealed that a growing majority of Americans are worried about the effects of global warming. But the survey also revealed that feelings of hope regarding our ability to tackle the problem has waned in recent years. Previous research reveals that feelings of both worry and hope are among the strongest predictors of public engagement on climate change solutions. In this recent blog post , Dr. Anthony Leiserowitz make a compelling case for why we should remain hopeful, and how we can do so.
