Celebrating our SENIORS
Senior yard signs
Our BIG spring fundraiser, Senior Yard Signs, was a huge success. Look for approximately 125 signs throughout the district congratulating GV Seniors. For those who have a sign, please help continue this tradition for years to come by posting a photo of your senior with their sign on social media.

Senior Week
Beginning May 25, coinciding with the arrival of the Senior yard signs, Great Valley Crew will be recognizing our seniors with a social media blitz with posters like the one above. During that week we encourage parents of our seniors (and everyone) to post and share photos and words of congratulations and encouragement for our graduating rowers.

End-of-Season Picnic
Plans are in the works to have an end-of-year gathering at Battle of the Clouds Park one weeknight evening towards the end of June (if possible). Our end of season party usually allows for the rowers to socialize one last time, parents to catch up, and for coaches and teammates to recognize our seniors and send them off in style. Refreshments will be provided. More information will follow as the date gets closer. In the meantime, let's hope for a "flat curve" and a safe loosening of restrictions.
Christina River Challenge
Seven GV Rowers have been participating in the Christina River Challenge along with three other programs (Newport Rowing Club, Unionville HS, and Charter School of Wilmington). Athletes complete challenges in erging, running, core, and other cardio activities including a daily challenge, then report their daily points on a spreadsheet. Nick and Carsten are leading the GV team with most points, followed by Kylie, Kelsey, Veronica, Camryn, and Slade. We hope that all rowers have found a way to keep active this spring and will be ready to hit the water in the Fall.
Fall Registration - New Process
Fall Registration will take place using a pre-registration process starting in Mid-June. Rowers will be able to complete a simple Google Form to inform the team of their interest in rowing this Fall. There will be no financial obligation until it is clear what our Fall season will look like. At that time, registration will open for final registration and payment.
Boathouse Information
Starting with the Fall season 2020, Great Valley Crew will be rowing out of the John S. Trinsey Jr. Memorial Boathouse which is also home of the Upper Merion Rowing Association.

Many thanks to Marcy Schell for her work in making this happen! The move will cut our travel time to practices in half. The boathouse is also fully equipped with 24 ergs and is part of the Upper Merion John S. Trinsey Jr. Memorial Boathouse Township Park.

The boathouse is located on the Schuylkill River in Bridgeport, just past the King of Prussia Mall. Directions are below in case you want to drive up and check it out.

GVCO Caring Hands
Thanks to your support, GVCO Caring Hands Food Fund raised  $4700  for grocery gifts cards for GV Families in Need!! GVSD Social Worker, Krista Russell will work directly with these families to help with food during this crisis.

Also, the GVCO Caring Hands Headbands for Healthcare Workers initiative has donated almost  350  special headbands, with buttons for attaching masks away from their ears, to local hospitals, senior centers and the emergency responders at the East Whiteland and Malvern Fire Companies. One recipient sent this nice note:

We can now secure the elastic on the headband buttons instead of behind our ears. What a relief!

Thanks to you, we are not only fashionable, but much more comfortable. Each day as I walk through the units and see the colorful headbands, I am reminded of your support and that we are all in this together.

Thank you for your kindness, creativity and generosity…We love our headbands!

Thanks to our awesome GV community!

GVCO Project Updates
Apr 24 2020:  Governor Wolf's state-wide shut down has temporarily stopped our progress on the site work at the new GVCO Community Center.

Just before the mandatory closing, a 300 ft silt fence was installed towards the back side of the site.

Hoping to resume when it is safe and the governor begins to reduce the restrictions.
