To maintain its competitiveness in a market segment where many of its rivals are much bigger companies, Broderson has combined a tight focus on manufacturing rugged, highly engineered lift equipment with the ability to adapt its products and processes to meet ch
anging demands.
"We continuously evolve our approach," said Eric Slocombe, engineering director at the Lenexa, Kan.-based company. "From implementation to systems, we're preparing for the next generation of video game kids who are becoming next generation machine operators."
One aspect of driving that evolution often involves drawing on the expertise of suppliers. A case in point is that Broderson has increasingly relied on GS Global Resources as its go-to resource in developing cab-based machine control systems for its range of rough-terrain cranes.
Broderson's relationship with GS Global began approximately six years ago. The first project with the Mukwonago, Wis., electronic controls and hydraulic systems integrator included upgrades to machine control systems. More recent projects include system design, integration and production support for Broderson's RT500 rough terrain crane. as well as configuration of machine operator cabs.
