The Kaua`i Board of REALTORS® has been taking an active role with the Kaua`i County Planning Department as the County moves towards reviewing the Kaua`i General Plan (Kaua`i KaKou). The General Plan was last updated in 2000 and has been worked on by the County Planning department for at least two years gathering community input to focus on the direction Kaua`i residents would like to see their island home take for the future. After review by the Planning Commission the Department submitted the proposed plan to the Kaua`i County Council where a unanimous vote was taken to receive the Plan Update. A public hearing is set for October 4th to gain insight from the community to assist in passing a final draft. After a thorough examination of the General Plan by the National Association of REALTORS® Land Use Initiative the Kaua`i Board of REALTORS® has offered suggestions and will continue to support the County's efforts to finalize the Plan.
