News from The Episcopal Cafe

From the Rector

Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Mary's,

This Sunday we will be celebrating the Feast of Saint Mary the Virgin , the patronal feast day of our Parish. This feast day is always August 15 th , and as is the tradition here at St. Mary's, we will be transferring it to this Sunday so that we can mark this occasion. Del Smith will be leading our hymns on piano this Sunday.

This year is the 50th Anniversary of Crop W alk, and once again St. Mary's will be involved with the McHenry County Crop Walk. The walk is Sunday, September 29 and it begins at 2:00 p.m. at First Church here in Crystal Lake. As in years past there is a one mile and a four mile walk. Please sign up to walk with St. Mary's or make a donation on the website. St. Mary's is also hosting a rest stop for the participants and I will be looking for volunteers to staff this on the day of the walk. There is more information in this newsletter about the walk. Please help us reach our 2019 goal of $1,500; join us in our efforts to eradicate hunger.

On Saturday, October 12 at 10:30 a.m. we will celebrate the life of our late Choir Director, Organist, parishioner, and friend Sandy Molyneux . We will be giving Sandy a grand goodbye and celebrating her new life in the risen Christ. Sandy's ashes will be buried in the churchyard and we will have a catered lunch following the service. I hope you will join me for this celebration.

I will be away this coming week from Sunday night August 11, returning on Monday, August 19 . You may contact Amy Noe in the office or our Co-Warden Steve Brooks after hours if you have an emergency. They can contact the on call clergy if needed.

See you all on Sunday,
Fran+
