Back to School Celebration
Founders Day Festival

FPS participated in several Founders Day Festival activities; from walking in the parade to giving away balloons and star shaped pencils. A great time was had by all despite the hot weather and crazy storms!
Dear Farmington Public Schools’ Staff,

As the newly appointed superintendent of Farmington Public Schools, I would like to take a minute to introduce myself to you and express my enthusiasm to serve the district.

My wife, Jennifer, and I are the proud parents of two children. Jennifer works as an occupational therapy assistant serving at a senior assisted living center. This fall, our son Chris will be a senior at Kalamazoo College and our daughter Claire will be a sophomore at Michigan State University. Our favorite family hobbies include water and snow sports such as wakeboarding, kiteboarding, surfing, and snowboarding.

As an educator, I have served as a teacher, coach, building administrator, central office staff, and superintendent over the past 33 years. My belief in public education is strong and allows me to remain committed to providing innovative opportunities for all children to learn while ensuring their individual success. Serving as a district leader, I believe that we can maximize our organizational effectiveness by establishing a collaborative culture that supports shared decision making. Providing opportunities for input, through structured decision making models, will ensure the development of our staff’s technical and leadership capacity.

Since I began in the District, I have had the opportunity to meet with several staff and community members and have learned a lot about the district. In fact, every day I become more impressed with the quality of programming and services provided to students and families and the District’s proud tradition of excellence. It has also become clear and to no surprise, the District’s success has been due to outstanding staff, parents, and supportive community members that genuinely care about the success of all students.

I look forward to working collaboratively with our Board of Education, staff, students, and school community as we strive to sustain our current initiatives while establishing a clear vision of our future. I consider it a privilege to be part of the Farmington Public Schools’ community and look forward to getting to know and working with all of you.

BUY A FRESH THYME BAG

FPS will receive a $1 donation every time the $2.99 reusable Giving Bag is purchased at the downtown Farmington FRESH THYME during the month of August.
FPS is set to launch a new program this year called “Adopt a Teacher” that supports its newest staff members. The goal of the program is to support new teachers to the District. Due to the nature of education, teachers often spend a lot of their own money on books and supplies for their students and their classrooms. This program hopes to alleviate some of the strain put on teachers, especially those new to teaching. The hope is to have retiring teachers and staff members consider donating some of their supplies to incoming new teachers/staff members, thus creating a self-sustaining program.
