We are busy working to make this inaugural event AWESOME and we will need your help.
We will have the
top 24 schools from
5 Colorado BEST Hubs competing for the first time in a Denver Regional! No need for schools to travel to Arkansas this year!
Our volunteers will find this event is similar to Game Day - with a 2 1/2 day schedule and TONS of FUN and EXCITEMENT. Some volunteers will be supporting from the other Colorado hubs. We'll be very happy for their wisdom, enthusiasm and support during this weekend competition.

Colorado BEST STEM Outreach Events
 Aurora 8th Grade Students Explore Career Options
"Hey, cool. What's this?"
"This is a robot built by a middle school team for the 2015 Pay Dirt game. Would you like to drive it?"
And so began many conversations about BEST and the work skills that participating in a BEST competition develops. The discussions took place at the
CareerTrek 2017 for all eighth grade students in Aurora Public Schools held on September 28 & 29. RM BEST participated on 28 September.
The students were able to see what was involved in this segment of robotics: engineering design, programming, driving skills and strategies, and teamwork in building the robot. One girl commented that it would take her a year to build a robot like the one she was driving. BUT she was told that the team built the robot in six weeks with a lot of cooperative work within the team. BEST emphasizes teamwork among individuals-as well as from school to school.
Seven Aurora schools are participating in the 2017 Crossfire game. Maybe there is a possibility of more Aurora schools joining BEST next year!! SPECIAL THANKS to Lori Lazuk for supporting the Aurora Public Schools CareerTrek 2017!
