Letter from the Editor
Hello Everyone,

Summer is halfway through and my memories from the 74th annual meeting in Chicago in May did not fade. The Field Museum as a venue for the meeting reception and the other occasions to gather together allowed a more in-depth appreciation of the Science. This year’s leadership dyad represented by Scott Langenecker and Mary Phillips delivered an exceptional mixture of innovations in clinical neuroscience with 12 plenary speakers, 60 symposia and more than 900 posters! I hope you had the opportunity to attend in person. If not, you can watch the plenary talks at the SOBP YouTube channel by clicking here .
One of the key characteristics of the meeting is the opportunity to network. If you are new to the Society, you will notice right away how mentorship and collegiality are valued by all members. Tireless team work in its various unfolding modalities is essential as we continue to pursue greater understanding of brain health and ultimately elevate care to our patients. Since you all dare to achieve high quality science, I encourage to engage and explore with any member and the Parthenon Management Group opportunities to contribute to the Society. After all, it is an honor to be part of it, as well as a responsibility. If you are not a member, it is time to consider joining.
It is also time to look forward to next year’s meeting in New York where we will celebrate the 75th anniversary of our vibrant Society! The annual meeting theme will be “Variability: The Good, the Bad, and the Interesting”. Symposia submissions open August 15th, and I encourage you to gather your comrades and help us move science forward thanks to your latest data. Other important dates and deadlines are outlined below.

As usual, please don’t hesitate to share ideas and suggestions to make the Newsletter an even better tool and in line with your goals.

75th Annual Scientific Convention for the Society of Biological Psychiatry
April 30 - May 2, 2020

“ Variability: The Good, the Bad, and the Interesting."
The field of biological psychiatry is approaching a catalytic period for discovery. The purpose of the 2020 SOBP Annual meeting is to provide an interactive platform for learning and discovery. The meeting program will focus on innovative and transformative frameworks for understanding psychiatric illnesses, and present enhanced and newly emerging tools for measurement and intervention. Within these frameworks and with these tools, techniques and experimental designs are illustrated that can enhance understanding of psychiatric illness and elucidate the biological pathways and markers of illness processes.

4th Computational Psychiatry Satellite @ SOBP 2020 in NYC   
Danielle Bassett (U Penn), Janaina Mourao-Miranda (UCL) and Tor Wager (UC
Boulder) will present advanced computational techniques for neuroimaging analyses in the setting of mental health. Each two-hour sessions will contain a tutorial component and an overview of recent advances. Submissions for oral presentations are invited for data in search of computational models, and computational models in search of data. For more information, click here
