PUBLIC HEARING for H3224 to establish a children's vision registry and special commission on childhood vision and eye health, JOINT COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC HEALTH, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2017, 1:00 P.M., HEARING ROOM A-2. The Children's Vision Massachusetts Coalition will provide testimony in support of H3224 with the message that Massachusettshas been a champion regarding its children's vision screening program through legislation (2004); DPH mandates; and a commitment on the part of pediatricians, schools nurses and health managers to provide quality screenings and facilitate referral to eye exams when indicated; but that gaps remain. The next step in achieving a Comprehensive Universal Children's Vision Health Program is a statewide information system to provide data for follow-up, surveillance and evaluation.
