The City of South Fulton has teamed up with The Marquis Grissom Baseball Association for its Spring Baseball Training Program at Welcome All Park. Spring training began on Monday, May 13, 2019 and registration for youth ages 7-13 is now open!
The Marquis Grissom Baseball Association (MGBA) will provide an opportunity for youth, ages 7-13, to learn the game of baseball by an individual from their community that knows how to win in life and on the field.
More than 1,600 students have participated in the MGBA program since 2006. MGBA has awarded over $2.3 million dollars in collegiate scholarship awards and 98% of players going through the program have received collegiate scholarships.
Marquis Grissom played in the Major League for 17 years and his accomplishments include a 1995 World Series Championship, being named as a Major League All Star in 1993 & 1994, a 4-time Gold Glove Award Winner, a 2-time National League Stolen Base Champion and a 1997 American League Championship MVP.

Running To Win:
GRPA State Track Meet
|
|
The Parks & Recreation Department congratulates all young athletes who competed at the Georgia Recreation and Park Association State Youth Track & Field Meet in Augusta, GA earlier this month.
Side Njie, a Burdett Park track participant, competed in the 11/12-year-old boys 400 Meter Run. Njie broke the 2015 record completing the nearly one-quarter of a mile run in 54.86 seconds.
Safari Underdue, also a track participant at Burdett Park, set a new state record in the 7/8-year-old girls Long Jump.
The City of South Fulton brought home a total of eight Gold medals, 15 Silver Medals, and nine Bronze medals in several track and field events.
Many participants placed second and third in the State in numerous events. Every athlete that represented the City of South Fulton placed within the top eight in the State of Georgia in their respective events. The Girls track team placed second in the State out of 26 teams and the Boys track team placed third in the State out of 27 teams.
Celebrity Radio DJ Greg Street from V-103 Atlanta invited City of South Fulton first place winners and state record breakers to join him on-the-air this Friday, May 17, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. to celebrate this season's victory. Please be sure to tune into V-103 this Friday!

Spring Basketball League Celebrates End of Season
The City of South Fulton's Parks and Recreation Department’s First Annual Youth Basketball Developmental Spring League is wrapping up its season. The championship games will be played at Burdett Park on Thursday, May 16, 2019.
The City of South Fulton's Youth Developmental League is designed to give boys and girls, ages 7 through 12 years old who do not participate in AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) or YBOA (Youth Basketball of America), a chance to develop and enhance their skills in preparation for the regular season.
Registration for the 2020 Spring Basketball League begins in January at Sandtown, Burdett, Cliftondale, and Welcome All Park. The League fee is $25.00 per participant.

Super Summer Camp: Registration Still Open
The Parks & Recreation Department would like to remind you to register your child for Super Summer Camp!
Camp begins on Monday, June 3, 2019 and ends on Friday, August 2, 2019. If you’re interested in signing up your child or children, ages 6-12, you can register them online via
CiviRec.
The Super Summer Camp runs daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Early drop-off is at 7:00 a.m. and late-pick up is offered until 6:00 p.m.
Super Summer Camp is available at the following City of South Fulton Parks: Burdett, Cliftondale, Sandtown, and Welcome All Park. Camp participants will have plenty to do this summer including:
- sporting games
- swimming
- field trips
- arts and crafts
- music & dance
- STEM Activities (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)

Rock The Court: South Fulton Tennis Center
|
The South Fulton Tennis Center is offering several summer camp programs for area youth to get outside and rock the court.
The Center is partnering with the South Atlanta Community Tennis Association and The United States Tennis Association (USTA) Net Generation to help kids discover a new way to play tennis.
The Center offers a variety of programs to cater to different ages and skill levels, so take a look at what’s going on this season and join in on the fun!

High Performance Tennis Camp
Dates: 5/28 - 8/2/2019
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The high performance tennis camp is organized for players currently ranked in the top 300 in the state of Georgia and is playing one to two tournaments per month. This camp is focused on helping players improve skills and develop their tennis game.
Tennis Summer Camp
Dates: 5/28 - 8/2/2019
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Youth summer camp at the South Fulton Tennis Center is a great place for young athletes to improve their skills, work hard, make new friends, and have fun. Professional teachers use methods developed by The United States Tennis Association (USTA) Foundation to help youngsters be successful.

Junior Team Tennis
Dates: 5/11 - 6/29/2019
Time: 1:00 p.m. & 3:00 p.m.
The summer season of junior team tennis is here! Players from the City of South Fulton are placed on teams based on age and/or skill level. Placing kids on teams gives them the opportunity to put all of their hard work during tennis drills into action.
Evening & Saturday Morning Tennis Drills
Dates: Year round
Time: 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., 10:30 a.m. to Noon
Evening & Saturday morning tennis drills are offered to children and adults throughout the year at the South Fulton Tennis Center. Sign up today! All skill levels are welcome.

Diamond Divas at Sandtown Park
|
Sandtown Park is offering new dance programs for kids and seniors!
“Diamond Divas at Sandtown” is a new youth dance program for girls and boys between the ages of 5 - 18. Classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at Sandtown Park, 5320 Campbellton Road Atlanta, GA 30331. The traveling majorette program is year-round and registration is $25.00.
The Parks & Recreation Department reminds senior of the new Senior Line Dance Aerobics Class. If you want to boogie or two-step, feel free to attend the class on Mondays from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room.
