Fly Quiet Committee Update
The ONCC Fly Quiet Committee met on July 19, 2018. The Committee reviewed and approved its mission statement/objectives/guiding principles, discussed the work plan and heard a presentation of Airport 101. The next Fly Quiet Committee meeting is scheduled for August 23, 2018 at 9:30 am.


ONCC Recognizes Commissioner Evans
ONCC Chairman and Mount Prospect Mayor Arlene Juracek presented a proclamation of appreciation to departing Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) Commissioner Ginger Evans. Mayor Juracek congratulated the Commissioner on her success in completion of the parallel runway modernization at O’Hare, as well as in negotiating the O’Hare 21 Terminal Redevelopment Plan. 

City Council Approves Jamie Rhee as New Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Aviation
On July 25, the Chicago City Council approved Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s appointment of Jamie Rhee as the new Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA).

Starting her career with the City of Chicago in 1994 as an airport information officer, Rhee has worked for the city for nearly 24 years in various roles and is currently Chicago’s Chief Procurement Officer. Rhee will begin serving in her new role on August 1.

ONCC O'Hare Airfield Tour
ONCC members were invited on a tour of the airfield on July 25, 2018. Members were able to see and learn about many of the construction projects currently taking place as well as receive updates on some of the new projects coming on line, such as the O'Hare 21 Terminal Area Plan (TAP).

ONCC Requests Results of FAA Nationwide Annoyance Survey
ONCC Chair Arlene Juracek recently sent a letter to the FAA regarding the results of the nationwide annoyance survey which were anticipated to be released in December 2015. Recently on June 15, 2018, the Airport Noise Report (Volume 30, Number 19) wrote that the FAA could not say when the results of the survey would be released. The letter asked that the findings be published immediately.

Odorous Windows Update
Independent testing finds screens as source of odors; CDA will develop a mitigation solution for homes affected by odorous windows 
The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) today released findings by two independent experts that confirm there is no evidence of health risks in connection with the Residential Sound Insulation Program (RSIP) window products or the odors emitted from them. Extensive testing has determined that the primary source of the window odors is the PVC-coated screens found in many window installations.
