The project to transform Maple Road with new infrastructure and amenities will begin on Monday, April 27 with the installation of barriers that will maintain the walkway for pedestrians along the construction route.

Among the initial activities to occur on Monday will be:
  • Setting up pedestrian barriers and advanced warning signs
  • Marking pavement removals
  • Mobilizing equipment and materials

The project will reconstruct Maple Road from Southfield to Woodward and, although the timeline is still being finalized, construction is expected to continue through the summer months.

Maple Road will be closed to traffic on Thursday, April 30 and motorists will be routed on to detours. Download a map of detour routes here . Maple Road’s sidewalks will remain open to pedestrian traffic. In the coming months as quarantine restrictions are lifted and the business district re-opens, we will fully support the businesses along Maple Road just as we did during the successful Old Woodward project.

With construction upon us, we’ll begin providing you with weekly project updates. If you know someone who might be interested in receiving these emails, please forward the sign-up information to them: www.bit.ly/bhamnews .
