YANA UPDATES: WHAT'S NEW
|
YANA is a diverse and talented group of individuals, whose nonprofit interests include the environment, arts and culture, education, poverty, disability and healthcare. Members -- who are both Yale alumni and friends of Yale -- range from very recent graduates to alumni with long careers in the social impact sectors.

RECOGNIZING LEADERSHIP
|
|
In July 2017, YANA Chair, Ken D. Inadomi '76, was one of five recipients of the Yale Medal from the Association of Yale Alumni (AYA). The Yale Medal is presented to individuals who show extraordinary devotion to the ideals of the university, and also demonstrate extensive, exemplary service on behalf of Yale as a whole or one of its many schools, institutes, or programs.

In order to encourage greater commitment to service beyond the annual Yale Day of Service (YDOS), we want to use YANA to facilitate long-term and short-term volunteer opportunities within and beyond our networks.

SUMMER FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
The Fellowship Program
Over the last two years, nearly 140 Yale students have been unable to accept a summer internship with a nonprofit because of lack of funding.
The
YANA-Dwight Hall Summer Fellowship
aims to assist Yale students pursue a summer internship in the social impact sector by easing some of their financial burdens, introducing them to the YANA alumni network, and providing mentoring, training and other assistance.

VICTORIES IN FIGHTING POVERTY
SERIES
|
|
|
Though leaders often feel isolated in their own front-line battles and management stressors, they have much to share: common struggles and frustrations as well as strategies for success, practical wisdom, and a solidarity that transcends borders.
This series seeks to create a forum for on-the-ground champions of social progress.

RECENT EVENT: STORYTELLING FOR NONPROFITS
|
|
|
On Sept. 18,
John Seaman of Saybrook Partners delivered a storytelling presentation and workshop in NYC to help provide nonprofit executives, board members, and fundraising and communications professionals with tools to inform and inspire through strategic narrative.

The Summer Roundtable

The Summer Roundtable was hosted by board member Frank Raffaele at the beautiful New Leaf Restaurant. Rather than having one expert, all attendees share their expertise, discussing topics including:

- Leadership and Social Enterprise; and
- Strategic Partnerships

presented an overview of hospital-based initiatives designed to improve the care experience for older adults.
