Principal's Message

Greetings,

Here at Loyola, we are constantly looking to strengthen our mission and the four pillars. One of those four pillars is leadership. Leadership at Loyola stems across all facets of our organization and all people and we have discovered an opportunity for all of us. As we strive to be a community of excellence, this opportunity will only help us move toward that together.

At the end of the summer, at our first day of back-to-school workshops our entire staff participated in a program called Top 20 Training.  Top 20 Training offers a simple language that helps people discover critical thinking, learning and communicating skills. The concepts help anyone looking for better relationships and experiences in the classroom, with friends and at home. At the staff training, t here w as as much energy and excitement surrounding this as anything I have seen in my time in education.

On Thursday, November 1, we will have Top 20 Training at Loyola. The presenter is Tom Cody. Tom is very engaging and relatable. Here is a schedule of the day:

1:00-2:00pm-  7th-12th grade assembly.  The session is about some of the tools that the teachers and staff learned before school started.  You may have heard some of the terminology used in the classrooms.  "Above and below the Line": How our thinking governs our experience.

2:00-2:45pm-  7th-12th grade student leaders.  This is open to all students who are interested in leadership.  The topic of this session is "Genuine Leadership: Creating Value for Self and Others! We are hoping to have at a minimum five students per grade, 7-12.

3:00-4:30PM- All of you reading this newsletter are invited and encouraged to attend this session. This includes parents, guardians, or anyone in the Loyola community interested in enhancing our school community. The topic is "Learning from Mistakes": Moving outside of our comfort zone".

Our entire staff will also be participating in another session on Friday, November 2.

We are excited to be able to bring this program to our entire school community so we can all speak a common language and hold each other accountable in being individuals for a community of excellence. Please join us on November 1 so you can experience it with us!

Here is a link to their website if you want to know more about it.

Sincerely,

Adam Bemmels,  PS-12 Principal
