Letter from Ventura County Fair

April 7, 2020

To All Our Valued Ventura County Fair Youth Livestock Exhibitors:

Over this past weekend we received notification of a change in participation by the Wood Claeyssens Foundation for the Central Coast 2020 Fair Season. Due to the financial burden placed on the Foundation by the recent COVID-19 pandemic and the falling interest rates in the oil industry, the Wood Claeyssens Foundation has made the difficult decision to not participate in any County Fair Junior Livestock Auction in 2020.

Our hope is that by bringing this to your attention early you will not be left scrambling to find a buyer for your animal. Ventura County has a large livestock community that comes together to support youth agriculture.

We hope that this information will not discourage you but instead encourage you to work hard to get your local community involved.

The VC Fair is working hard to ensure the 2020 VC Fair and Junior Livestock Auction continue as scheduled. With the assistance of the California Network of Fairs we are actively looking at alternatives in the event of any cancellations.

Working together as a team we will provide the best experience possible for the youth in this time of uncertainty.

Be safe.
