FAU Internship and Part-Time Job Fair

Thursday, August 29 at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
FAU Recreation and Fitness Center

Families encourage your students to this career fair that provides them an avenue to network with employers and learn about positions in a myriad of industries. Let your students know to RSVP in Handshake ahead of time so that you don't miss out on pertinent information regarding the event!

We strongly encourage your student to dress business casual when they attend the fair, and to bring multiple copies of their resume with them. If they need any help polishing their resume or creating one, please encourage them to stop by the Career Center. The Career Center has same-day advising Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or your student can call 561-297-3533 to schedule an appointment.

Tell your student to keep in mind they'll want to research the organizations and departments attending the fair so that they are equipped to have impactful conversations with employers. If they have any questions, please contact the FAU Career Center at 561-297-3533 or at [email protected].

University Advising Services

Preparation is Key!

As your students are preparing to start the fall semester at FAU, you may want to keep in mind the following information to assist them:
  • Fall semester officially begins the week of August 17th.  University Advising Services will be open at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 17th.
  • Students will be able to drop and add courses to their fall schedules through Friday, August 23rd.
  • It is best for students not to begin classes too late within the first week, because the courses would be in progress during that week.  Students should not miss the critical information during the start of classes that can help them be successful in the course.  Please refer students to meet with an advisor for verification and to discuss any changes they may want to make to their fall schedules.
  • The last day to pay tuition and fees without a late fee is Monday, August 26th.

Families can get prepared along with their students!
  • Proactively keep your student in the loop of what's going on at home, and find creative ways to do so this semester.  Remember that you know your students, and ways that they may appreciate updates.
  • Think of new ways to stay connected to your students this semester. Some suggestions could be: sending letters from each person in the family at different times throughout the semester, having surprise packages delivered that may include students' favorites (snacks, gift card, random items that can be useful but also may make them smile), and sharing insight about yourself when you were your students' age that they may not know about you.
  • For more information about when could be appropriate times to take action, you may view the FAU Academic Calendar
