When I looked up, I saw my friend had started to cry. "What's wrong, honey?" I asked. She was experiencing frustration due to the affects her body was going through from a stroke she had two-and-a-half years ago. Her whole life had changed, and she was not able to do what she normally had done in the past. "Who was she now? Where did she belong?" All this was going through her mind as she cried sitting at the bar in my kitchen. My friend had put so much effort into her recovery. Though she had come a long way and knew it was a miracle that she survived, it was still overwhelming.
Across the room, my two-and-a half-year-old great-grandson who seemed to be in his own world, sensed her heartache. Suddenly, on his own accord, he came climbing up the barstool next to her making his way onto her lap! This was a surprise to my friend since he had not done this before! I was surprised also and grabbed my phone to capture this moment! As he climbed into her arms, he wrapped his little arms around her neck. Then he patted her face letting her know everything was going to be alright. As he smiled it was as if he knew God had loved on her through his embrace.
Maybe one of the reasons my little grandson was born at that time was for this moment? It was the same time her miracle took place when God saved her life! Could he be chosen to carry the Father's Love right when my friend needed it most? Later my friend said to me, that God showed her that was how the Father loves!
Maybe you find yourself in a similar situation. With you, it may not have been a stroke, but your life has changed! Maybe you also feel overwhelmed and the situation seems impossible. But let me tell you, God's love is for you as well and nothing is impossible with Him! Don't give up!
Or you may be the answer sent like this little guy! Be open to opportunities just to love on someone God puts in your path! Be sensitive to His leadings as He hears the cry of ones like my friend who needed encouragement!
Today I took my 93-year-old Mama to the hair salon. While waiting for her I went into a vintage shop nearby and met a precious lady who worked there. As we talked, I listened not only to her but to the Holy Spirit who knew her needs. Continually I was asking Him under my breath, "How do You want to show your love to her?"
She ended up sharing her concerns about her life and family as I was able to encourage her. I could see her countenance change as I allowed His life-filled love to touch her heart!
Jesus summed up all the commandments in one! Love! Can I challenge you to love Him with all your heart and to be open to let your overflow spill out to others He puts in your path? 1 Cor 13:1 tells us that if we have amazing faith and do wonderful works of benevolence but have not love, it doesn't mean anything! 1 John 3:14 says that the sign that we passed out of death into life is that we love each other!
I pray that you will be rooted and grounded in His love so you can comprehend the dimensions of that love, (the love that surpasses knowledge,) so that you are filled with the fullness of God! (Eph 3:17-19)
