Change of Ownership and Remodels
Thinking of selling your business or making upgrades?
Are you considering upgrading your restaurant, menu or simply selling your business altogether? There is much to consider when making these changes including meeting the requirements set by the local health department. There are two types of Food Plan Reviews that apply to these situations: These are:
- Change of Ownership
- Remodel/Operating Modifications
The
Change of Ownership Plan Review
is relatively straight forward and involves little to no changes to the restaurant which allows the fee to be considerably lower than for that of other types of Food Plan Reviews. In order to qualify as a change of ownership, the following criteria must be met. The business must:
- Currently be in operation and open for business
- Hold a Clark County Health Department permit
- Have no proposed changes to the physical kitchen, menu or method of food preparation
If the above criteria are met, the current owner would notify the health department by email or in writing of the change of ownership. The following information and fees would need to be submitted to the health department by the new owner, which includes:
- Change of ownership checklist and application form
- Completed food service permits application
- Food permit fee
- Menu
- Method of food preparation
- Floor plan.
The cost of a Change of Ownership is $175.00. Please note that a late fee will be assessed for those applications received less than 30 days or more prior to opening.
For the
Remodel or Operating Modifications Plan Review
of a currently permitted facility, the conditions are different. The criteria are as follows:
- The facility plans to undergo significant changes to the kitchen involving new sinks, a new floor plan and new equipment
- A significant change in the menu or volume of food being prepared
- Changes in the food preparation steps involving cooling or processing of raw meats
