UI students abroad, international students recognized during International Education Week
This fall, more than 4,000 international students are studying or conducting postgraduate research at the UI from 118 foreign countries and territories. And students from 65 majors are studying abroad in 75 countries. Read more.

IWP 2016 Resident Shibasaki Tomoka Maps the World
A geographer by undergraduate major and natural inclination, Tomoka writes stories about fictional characters who inhabit a very real world. She lives life with a cell-phone map in her hand, forever reconciling the account of the world on the screen with what she sees in front of her. Read more about Tomaka.

Student spends summer in India with U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship Program
Shane Weitzman spent the summer studying Hindi in Jaipur, India.  Weitzman and his fellow CLS program participants lived with local Hindi-speaking host families and met regularly with local peers to learn more about the Hindi language and develop their personal networks.
