CSD Response Plan Update
A Message from Mr. Bugnacki
The news of the school closure being extended through the end of June was not the news we were hoping for. I was greeted with a wave of anxiety and sadness when I heard the news. It was not how I envisioned the end of our school year. Our community has a history of pulling together and showing our strength during challenging times. This news tests our will, but we will prevail. Our administrative team is working through all the milestones and events that would occur during the normal school year. We are planning to capture those experiences the best we can while being respectful of the current physical distancing order. What we do know is that we will continue to reap the benefits of our hard work.
Recently we received some good news. For the sixth year in a row, Cedarburg High School has been recognized in the U.S. News & World Report annual list of “Best High Schools” .  We are proud to announce for 2020 CHS students and staff earned the ranking of #2 Best High School in WI and #206 in the nation. These are the second highest rankings in the school’s history! Schools are ranked on their performance on state-required tests, graduation and how well they prepare students for college. This achievement recognizes the extraordinary efforts of our teachers, students and parents of our entire school community. Congratulations CHS! #pridechs

Grading and Reporting

Over the last few weeks, we have been measuring how students and teachers have been engaging in this new remote learning environment. The feedback from these groups, along with the input from parents through the surveys, has helped us to adjust our programming accordingly. It’s clear that students and teachers, along with parents are all working hard in this remote learning environment! This Saturday in our remote learning communication, all parents will receive information on our grading and reporting plan for the remainder of the year.
High School Graduation

The high school administration continues to work with students, staff and parents to determine the best option to honor our graduating seniors. With the current Safer At Home order, any plans for recognition must be compliant with that order. The goal is to get information to our families by mid-May at the latest.
Summer Academy

With the latest order, we now know that the traditional summer school offering is not possible. Our goal is to offer a summer school experience for all students. We are investigating the best option to meet the needs of all learners. Details on the summer school plan will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.

Learning Opportunities

We know it can be tough to speak to or teach your kids about money-management issues. Junior Achievement $AVE, USA  offers options for elementary, middle, and high school students. Lessons are less than 30 minutes and include topics such as: Wants vs. Needs,  Managing a Check Ledger, Car Buying 101, Deciding on a College, and Paying for College Life.

The Washington Ozaukee Public Health Department continues to be a valuable resource not only for the Cedarburg School District, but for both communities in which they serve. Through their expertise, endless hours of tracking COVID-19 data and guiding all of us in this time of need, they are helping us navigate through this health care crisis. Please take a moment to check out their website and all of the resources they have to offer.
Though recent reports indicate that the Safer At Home order is working, it is important to continue to follow the guidance of the Washington Ozaukee Public Health Department, CDC and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

Social distancing, frequent hand washing, and the use of cloth face coverings when making any essential trips continue to be recommended and needed to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
If you do not have a cloth face covering or mask, please watch this video for an easy, no sew option created from a T-shirt.
Mask Making Initiative

The Cedarburg School District is looking for volunteers that would be interested in our “Mask Making Initiative”. We take the health and safety of all of our employees very seriously and would like your help in making cloth face coverings/masks. Our goal is to have at least one face mask for every employee. If you or someone you know is interested in helping us, contact the District Nurse at ncofta@cedarburg.k12.wi.us .
