Message from the CEO Congratulations to outstanding Australian health informaticians and HISA members Prof Enrico Coiera, A/Prof Terry Hannan and Prof Johanna Westbrook who along with Prof Evelyn Hovenga and Prof Siaw-Teng Liaw have been recognised by the international body IMIA and voted in to the inaugural first class of the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics (IAHSI). We applaud such recognition of excellence! Its a timely reminder that nominations for HISAs own Jon Hilton Award for Excellence in Primary Care Informatics close on 20 June. A dedicated informatician, the late Jon Hilton was a major contributor to HISA for more than 20 years. Continued recognition of our health informatics champions serves to show us how far we have progressed.
Shout out to members! The AGM season is here: This Thursday 15 June look out for the HISA WA branch AGM and a presentation on nursing hours reporting tools by senior nurse and informatician Sukie Loe. The AGM for NSW branch is on Thursday 22 June following a presentation on simulation by Anne Star, Nurse Educator at Sydney Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre. HISA QLD will hold its AGM on Wednesday 28 June and Victorias AGM is on Thursday 29 June. Tasmanias date is set for 5 July.

Australian health informatics leadersEnrico Coiera, Terry Hannan, Evelyn Hovenga, Siaw-Teng Liaw and Johanna Westbrook (pictured) have been named in the first class of the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics (IAHSI), elected by the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA).
An online survey of researchers by the Population Health Research Network (PHRN) will confirm the 'High Value or Core data Collections' that should be made available across Australia for linked data research in health and the range of human services.

Students may receive complimentary registration for HIC 2017 as we honour the continued service and passion to the health informatics sector by Mrs Joan Edgecumbe, one of HISAs. The scholarship is for students who demonstrate commitment and promise in the field of health informatics. Applications close 20 June.
