October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, aka Pinktober, and we are grateful to be honoring it with the help of many community supporters and partners who are sharing our information and raising money to support our mission and work! Here are some of the many activities you can take advantage of this month to observe Pinktober while also helping Carolina Breast Friends.

Special Delivery Kicks off the Month
Pinktober started with a bang and a crawl for the Pink House when Charlotte's Pink Lady Fire Truck delivered hundreds of knitted breast prostheses created by the Charlotte Area Yarn Crawl with yarn donated from nine local shops. How many prosthesis? What yarn shops made it possible?

Pink Boots Ball: New Date. Same Cause. Same Fun!
The Pink Boots Ball is a joyous event-- with cocktails, dinner, inspiration, silent and live auction, live music from an amazing band, and dancing! It's an elegant night for a meaningful cause.
We've made room to accommodate more guests. You can still get tickets.

Our friends at American Cancer Society are holding their annual Making Strides Against Cancer walk. The money raised from this event funds breast cancer
research and helps people with breast cancer get the things they need now. Would you like to support this event?

Dr. Megan Ding, a naturopathic physician will teach us about safer skincare--everything from soaps, shampoos and deodorants to makeup.

The lymphatic system is a crucial player in your body's ability to ward off disease and heal from injury.
In this session, lymphatic drainage therapist Effie Spurlin, will share what you can do to ensure a healthier lymph system, then will demonstrate.

More than 50 Survivors and family came to the Pink House October 9 for The Friends & Family BBQ. Despite rain early in the day, the weather cleared up and guests began arriving in throngs with delicious dishes to share. Everyone enjoyed live music by Flat Tire Trio, pulled pork barbecue from Pinky's Westside Grill, and sweet tea and goodies from Jason's Deli and McAllisters! Special thanks to the volunteers from Zeta Phi Beta who helped set up, serve food and clean up afterward.
