MileStone Academy is looking for an educator who wants to make a difference in the lives of students who have learning differences and have not gotten the services they need to flourish in other educational settings.

Entering our 5th year MileStone Academy, we are looking for an educator who has worked with high-school students and believes that all students can learn in the right environment and support.

This position is perfect for an educator who has recently retired or continuing their education and is looking to stay engaged. MileStone Academy is in Jenkintown PA will start the school year with 20 students from 9th -12 grade.

If you are looking for a position where you can be creative, innovative and positively impact the lives of young people this is the job for you.

As we proudly enter our 5th Year as a Private Academic School, we think it is important to look back at the progress we have made in servicing our students. The following list outlines our strategies for success and the path we are moving on as we look to the future.
1. Full Time Counselor on Staff
- works collaboratively with OVR Representative on Transition Based Activities
- supports the Senior Writing Project requirement
- provides daily support to students who need encouragement as well as serving as a “sounding board” for managing personal problems

2. Monthly Professional Development Sessions 
- Effective Reading Strategies for High School Students
- Emergency Lock-Down Procedures
- Implementing Project Based Instruction)

3. Monthly OVR (Office of Vocational Rehabilitation) Student Meetings

4. Very Active Student Council 
- organizes / manages a schedule of store
- raises significant dollars for school trips / materials

5.Our First Graduate who completes her entire High School career or MileStone

6. Our First Student to participate in our 13th Year Program

7. Project Based Science Program

8. Computerized Math Program designed to strengthen basic math skills

9. Collaboration with Community Partners
- MileStone Academy and Arcadia University
- MileStone Academy and Wyncote Academy

10. Parent involvement
- Opening Day Visitation
- Parent Conferences conducted on line to facilitate parental involvement
- Daily/ Weekly Communications

11. Introduction of New Course Work
- Business Education Program based on the use of computers and wise business practices
- Art elective

- Holiday celebrations
- Sports Events to build school spirit
- Speaker Series Session at the Elkins Park Library

General Cash Assistance Ending
The Pennsylvania General Assistance program ended on August 1, 2019. No General Assistance cash assistance will be dispersed after July 31, 2019. Current General Assistance recipients were notified of this change via mail.

If you currently receive or think you qualify for General Assistance, you may still qualify for other benefits. Contact your local County Assistance Office or apply online via COMPASS at compass.state.pa.us.
If you are currently receiving other benefits like Medical Assistance or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), those benefits will continue. The Department of Human Services (DHS) will contact you again before making changes to other benefits for any reason.
