Westland, MI (April 10, 2020) - On Thursday, April 9, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced an extension to the Stay Home, Stay Safe Executive Order through April 30, 2020. As with the prior order, Executive Order 2020-42 limits gatherings and travel and requires all workers who are not necessary to sustain or protect life to stay home.
This announcement extends the closure of all Westland Municipal Buildings, including the Westland Public Library, the Jefferson Barns Community Vitality Center, the Senior Friendship Center, the Mack Mayfield Municipal Golf Course and Westland City Hall.

In accordance with state and federal guidelines with regards to social distancing, Westland City Hall will remain operational with a limited staff. Residents are encouraged to utilize the City's online services at
www.cityofwestland.com during this time. You can also locate contact information for City Departments on the city's website. City staff will still be responding to emails and voicemails as quickly as possible.
There are also two drop boxes located out front of City Hall for residents to drop off payments and paperwork which will continue to be checked daily.
Essential government services that will continue include public safety, utilities, animal control, housing and building departments, sanitation (including trash collection), and finance.
"As of today, Westland has 278 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 17 Westland residents have lost their lives as a result of contracting the virus," commented Mayor William R. Wild. "Our staff is working hard to continue to serve the public while adhering to the directives from the State of Michigan and our primary focus and concern is keeping members of the community safe and doing everything in our part to slow the spread and minimize the number of people affected."
