I'm really liking the new floor lamps in our Troy studio. Cozy.
Keeping Our Distance But Staying ConnectedC
Hello Heartspace friends,

We are in a new age and everyday we are being asked to reconsider how we are to live our lives. This feels so unsettling as we figure out how to balance our need to engage with the world, make a living, connect with community but for now, to step back from it - in order to limit the spread of this novel virus that is now taking root. Immunologically, we as people are naive to this virus so the path forward is uncharted.

At Heartspace, we are trying to set a course forward and at least for this weekend, we are closing the studios and canceling classes for Saturday and Sunday March 14-15. We may keep the studio closed longer than that but at this point we can't say for sure. Over the weekend we will take a collective deep breath and we will be working to figure out the best way to move forward. One of the things we will be working on will be live streaming options for our classes. We don't have all the details worked out but we will explore how technology can be used to keep us more connected, particularly in difficult times.

Social distancing is the phrase of the times and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. My daughter was not happy about having her sleepover canceled but such are the choices we have to make. As for this weekend, lets try to get outdoors. Have some playdates with an appropriate buffer zone. We're having an amazingly mild spring so enjoy the weather and be around people, at a distance. (and don't forget the tick check!!!) I have a garage in heavy need of cleaning and organizing. I'm sure you have jobs to attend to as well.

One event to let you know about, the good folks at Dyken Pond Environmental Center are leading Mindfulness in the Outdoors on Saturday March 21, 10AM - 12PM. Get outside and go within. Preregistration is required, $5 fee. Visit www.dykenpond.org for more information or email dykenpond@gmail.com. Capped at 10 participants.

Please know that we're thinking of all of you and that everyone stays well, healthy and happy. As always, do your work, get your sleep, eat nutritious food, drink water, do yoga and meditate, stay positive and be compassionate to yourself and others. Whatever else happens, that can only help.

Warmly,
Andrew Kasius
