CALL ON THE FEDERAL GOVT TO INCREASE SUPPORT FOR PUBLIC ED
THIS IS THE TIME TO GET YOUR COMMUNITY INVOLVED. If we all work together, we can build a groundswell for additional federal funding for education in NY State. Send a letter to your community (see the attached sample, which explains why and how to easily use e-letters via the WPSBA website) to help advocate for additional funding for NY. ( Shout out to the Pleasantville BOE for sharing their successful approach.)
THERE ARE MORE HURDLES AHEAD
WE NEED TO PLAN FOR THE FUTURE AND HOW to provide a safe environment when schools reopen. Thinking about social-emotional well-being, academics, staff culture and finances will build a strong foundation for welcoming students back to school after living through a pandemic. Getting together to anticipate difficulties and share best practices will help face eventual challenges head-on, once it is safe to reopen the schools.
