HOPE TO SEE YOU AT THE TERRACE ON THE PARK.....STARTING EARLY 6 PM

In the meantime, we would like to share a treasured story from our very FIRST dinner dance in 1974

AS THE VILLA TURNS... #14

Our first Dinner Dance 1974
Malloy College courtesy of the Dominican Sisters.

The Villa then had over 200
people who had been thru our doors and many lived on Long Island. Thus we opted for our first dinner dance to be an economical one at the college.
Our cook (a sober - sometimes
retired priest) prepared all the food upstate and we all carried it down to the college. Our families came to help us set up the tables etc. and we were all set to impress our employers the Dominican sisters with our
First Gala event with 150 guests.
Just as Jim our Founder and I began greeting and meeting the Mother Superior and our guests, Jim looked around and said "Oh S---"...our cook is drunk and babbling away to the
Dominican Board!

He quickly found two of our friends who forcibly escorted him to the door and tossed him into their car. Up and away and somehow we served 150 dinners, smiled through the welcoming talks and remained calm and gracious. The Board and sisters accepted our excuse of sickness (TRUE) for our chef and the night was a huge success.

The drunken chef was "CUSACKED" for a week and back in the first row for two months! He did die sober but from that year on we moved our dinner dances to Huntington Town House, then Astoria Manor then outgrew that to our very favorite where we remain
TERRACE ON THE PARK in Queens! It has the best view, food, service and ambiance
of all. And the cooks are sober
(As far as we know)

Hope to see you there this year!
