Memory Cafés welcome those experiencing early stage dementia, mild memory loss or cognitive impairment, as well as family and friends of those affected. They are a great opportunity for lively discussions, information gathering, refreshments, camaraderie and creative fun! We have a gerontology professional available to answer questions and an enormous wealth of experience among participants to be shared. We'd be delighted if you would join us!

Memory Assessment Center
|
Assessments are offered at Mosaic Family Health in downtown Appleton by Dr. Lee Vogel and resident physicians. Initial assessments screen for memory impairment, assess overall health and, if warranted, proceed to a more comprehensive evaluation to diagnose the cause/type of dementia. REACH In-Home Caregiver Support

REACH (Resources for Enhancing Alzheimer's Caregiver Health) is a 6 month evidence-based in-home caregiver intervention program. REACH supports the caregiver by addressing issues such as emotional well being, stress management, troubling behaviors, problem solving and self-care.

Tuesday, June 19 at 7 pm to attend the preview night of "Disney's Aladdin Jr." with your fellow Memory Project friends. This play is based on the 1992 Academy Award winning film about Aladdin who discovers that his true worth lies deep within himself. This

Ready to Cruise on the Chain O'Lakes

Please join us on Thursday, June 28 as we travel on our next coach bus outing. Our destination is Clear Water Harbor in Waupaca where we will board the Chief Waupaca, a double decker authentic sternwheeler. Our 90 minute narrated tour through Waupaca's crystal clear Chain O'Lakes is sure to be a unique experience filled with breathtaking scenery and fascinating history.
The drive to our luncheon site will take us through the grounds of the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King.
Lunch will be served at The Woods in Waupaca.

A Community Education Opportunity with Attic Chamber Theatre's Presentation of "Painting Churches"
|
The Fox Valley Memory Project is partnering with Attic Chamber Theatre to support their presentation of "Painting Churches." A goal of Attic Chamber Theatre is to present entertaining and thought-provoking plays focusing on important social issues. In 2018, Attic has selected dementia as their featured important health and social concern.
The staff and volunteers from the Fox Valley Memory Project will be available before each performance and during intermission to share information and. resources with the audience.
Opening night is Thursday, June 21 at 7 pm and the play runs through Friday, June 29. Performances are held at the Lucia Baehman Theatre in the Communication Arts Center of UW-Fox Valley in Menasha. A Talk-Back will be held after the June 24 matinee performance where the actors and Lynn Ann Clausing Rusch of Fox Valley Memory Project will interact with the audience and answer questions.

| "Tune Into Summer" with the KImberly Community Band |
Join us for an evening of music with the Kimberly Community Band at their concert on

Come one, come all for an afternoon of fun at Mosquito Hill Nature Center, N3880 Rogers Rd. on Wednesday, July 11, at 1:30 pm. The Oshkosh Rhythm Institute will be here with all their percussion instruments to help us move to the beat of our own drum! We would like to make this an extra special day and encourage you to invite your children and grandchildren to join us for this special time together.

"Understanding the Dementia Journey"
Free Educational Workshops Across the Fox Valley |
The Fox Valley Memory Project and the Alzheimer's Association are partnering to present a year-long educational series about dementia. The June workshop is entitled "The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia & Alzheimer's" with a special presentation entitled "Assessments, Support and REACH Services- Mosaic Family Health" by Beth Belmore, Community Care Coordinator from Mosaic Family Health. This workshop will be presented at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, June 12
at the Prince of Peace Church, 2330 E Calumet St. in Appleton.
The next topic in the series is entitled Effective Communication Strategies with a special presentation topic about Sensory Theme kits. This program will be presented at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, July 24 at the Neenah Public Library 240 E Wisconsin Ave.

Frank Rippl will once again lead the "On a Positive Note" chorus in favorite and familiar songs. This chorus is especially designed for those experiencing memory loss and their loved ones. No special musical skills are required.

Memory Camp: A Time for Relaxation & Inspiration for
People Living with Dementia & their Families

The first residential Memory Camp in the U.S. will take place this summer at Moon Beach Camp in St. Germain, WI, on
August 20 - 23
.
This special camp is designed for people living with mild to moderate dementia, their care partners and family members.

Moon Beach Camp is three and a half hours from the Fox Valley and not far from Eagle River. The cost is $400 per person which includes lodging, all meals, and programs. People with dementia must be accompanied by a care partner. Two or more additional family members may be accommodated in most housing units (lodges and cabins). SPARK!
|
SPARK! is a program for caregivers and loved ones living with memory loss. The Trout Museum of Art (with a second program at St Paul Elder Service) and The Building for Kids Children's Museum are pleased to be among the Wisconsin museums awarded funding by Bader Philanthropies and the Community Foundation to create programming where participants engage in lively discussions, art making, and multi-sensory activities.
Each one-hour program is led by a specially trained museum educator who will engage participants in interactive exhibit experiences. After each program, coffee and conversation is led by volunteers who give participants and caregivers the opportunity to support and socialize.

A monthly respite program is held on the first Monday of each month at St Paul Lutheran Church in Neenah. The next program w

Offering care partners 2 hours of personal time, this free program is staffed by professional caregivers and trained volunteers. Activities include music, organized arts, crafts and refreshments.
