Dear Falkland Families;

It's hard to believe that the end of the third week of school is here already. If you haven't yet, please remember to get your school fees paid by Friday, Sept. 28th. The permission/consent forms required by the school district are also due into the office. Thank you for your prompt attention to this.

There are several ways we keep parents informed of the happenings at our school: monthly e-newsletters, weekly emails, our website, and Facebook. Posts on our website automatically go on our Facebook page so please LIKE or FOLLOW US on Facebook. Click here to access our Facebook page .

I look forward to seeing you all at our Welcome Back to School event this Wednesday, September, 26th. Please scroll to find out the lastest and greatest at Falkland School.

Mrs. Cull
Staffing Update
Mrs. Cull will be teaching music this school year to students in Division 3, 4, and 5. Mrs. Cull also teaches Health Education and Career Education 4 times a week in Division 2. Although Mrs. Cull encourages parents to pop in to see her to discuss matters, an appointment made in advance will guarentee her availability. The opportunity to address matters promptly is ideal in any problem solving scenario. A complete list of our 2018 - 2019 staff and their roles can be found here.
Although we said farewell to our counsellors Jonaire Bowyer-Smith and Dawn Johnson, we welcome a new counsellor to our school. Welcome Carrie Kyle to our Falkland School Team. Carrie will be at our school every Tuesday. This past week she visited classrooms and introduced herself to all the students at Falkland School.
Picture Day - Tues., Sept. 25
Image Studios, from Vernon, will be at our school on Tuesday, September 25th to take individual, class and whole school photos of students and staff. StrongStart will be included as well. While information was sent home by email yesterday, the photographer has asked me to remind parents that a full body photo is taken so please consider your child's footwear.
Welcome Back to School Event -
Wed., Sept. 26
Don't miss out on our Welcome Back to School Event planned for Wednesday, September 26th from 4:30 - 6:15 PM. An invite was emailed home to families on Thursday. Guests are welcome to visit classrooms from 4:30 - 5:00. Potluck dinner will follow in the Gymnasium. Families are asked to bring a contribution (salad, side dish or main) for approximately 6 people. PAC will be providing hotdogs and beverages and the school will be providing dessert.

2018 Terry Fox Run - Thurs., Sept. 27
All parents are welcome to join us in the gym for our annual Terry Fox Run on Thursday, Septmeber, 27th at 12:40 PM. Our traditional run to the gate at the end of Gyp Road will follow. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Mrs. Cull at the office. Help at various points along the way would be much appreciated. Traditionally, our school sends a small donation each year to the Terry Fox Foundation. If you can send your child to school with a loonie, that would much appreciated.
Orange Shirt Day - Fri., September 28
Students and staff are reminded to wear an orange shirt in support of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come. Teachers, with the support of our Indigenous Support Worker Wes Sandy, will be providing age appropriate learning opportunities to better understand the impact residential schools had on children and families.
