VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!  HELP PAY IT FORWARD:  The PTSA 2018 Baccalaureate Committee needs your help!  The Senior Baccalaureate ceremony honoring our graduates is set for Friday, June 15th.  We are looking for people who would like to donate food for this wonderful event.  Please sign up using the following link hereWe are also in need of volunteers the day of for set up and clean up help, starting at 2:30.  If you would like to help, please email [email protected] and specify any time you are available between 2:30 - 9:00.  Any hour you can spare is greatly appreciated! Thanks for supporting our seniors!

ATTENTION PARENT VOLUNTEERS:  We are in need of many hands on deck for our end-of-the-year Laptop Roll-in! If you are able to give a couple of hours of time on one or multiple days, please consult the sign-up genius and sign-up HERE! If you do not have Destiny training, not to worry-we will train you, however, if you have, please indicate so. URGENT NEED FOR GRAD NIGHT VOLUNTEERS:   Chaperones: Please consider volunteering as a chaperone for Grad Night. Yes, it's an unusual and kind of big ask, yet it's required and we still need several parents, moms or dads. Underclass parents please consider paying it forward. Bus Loaders: Dads We Need You! School News
LWSD TOWNHALL MEETING  Save the date! The community is invited to a Town Hall event with the final 2-3 candidates on Thursday, June 28. The Town Hall is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. at the Lake Washington School District Resource Center (16250 NE 74th Street, Redmond, WA 98052). This event will also be broadcast live from the LWSD website. Community members will have an opportunity to submit feedback on the candidates that evening. More details will be shared soon.

RHS 2018-2019 SCHOOL DAY SCHEDULE.   LWSD has announced that school start and end times will be changing in the 2018-19 school year.   In the Fall at Redmond High School, a 7-period day will be implemented and the end-of-day will be extended by twenty minutes.  In order to ensure that families have ample time to plan, here is our RHS Bell Schedule for the 2018-2019 7-period school day.

The 5th Avenue Awards will be held June 11th. Congrats to RHS on the nominations!
The 2018 Drama Banquet will be held June 5th.

Extracurricular Activities
CONGRATULATIONS MUSTANGS!  Congratulations to all of the Mustangs who participated in the just completed KITE STEM Challenge Competition! The competition was open to every student in the district and 109 Mustangs took the challenge! They did so well that Redmond High School took 1st place in the High School category! This victory came with a $10,000 award for use by STEM programs at RHS! Great job! GO MUSTANGS!!!

JOIN REDMOND POLICE LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPLORING. Redmond High School students, in 9th grade - 12th grade, are invited to join Redmond Police Exploring. Law Enforcement Exploring is a national co-ed career education program for youth in 9th grade -20 years old. Mentor with Redmond Police Officers and participate in activities with other youth interested in a career in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement. Meetings are 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month: 7pm, Redmond Police: 8701 160th Ave NE. For additional Information, contact Redmond Police Officer Kevin Kaptur at 425-556-2500.

THE COLLEGE & CAREER CENTER JOB BOARD  The College & Career Center Job Board on PSL is on FIRE!!!!  Many new positions available for summer employment!!  Just go to your PSL page - you will find us under the "extras" tab.

STUDENTS:  Will you be participating in a summer activity or looking for an internship or job next year?  Students can get a FREE fully loaded transit fare card (ORCA card) to get around all summer for FREE!  This means the card and the rides are both FREE!  Only students who qualify for free and reduced lunch and are looking for a job, internship or other extracurricular project for summer of 2018 are eligible for the program.  Stop in the College and Career Center to pick up a flyer!

BATTERY CHARGING STATION . Is your battery running low?  Have no fear!  Plug in at the new charging station in the College & Career Center (Room E111). No more need to sit on the floor in the hallway! Our new device charging station is equipped with both plugs and USB ports - Stop in and take a look!

SUMMER ACT & SAT PREP  Looking to get a head start on preparing for your ACTs and SATs? SAT Prep is offering classes and practice tests at many locations over the summer! If you're interested, their locations and enrollment information can be found here.

VISUAL ARTS WORKSHOP:  Great opportunity for students interested in expressing themselves and capturing the world around them! The City of Redmond is offering an all week visual arts workshop July 23rd-27th. Morning classes focus on digital photography and afternoons on digital moving making. All classes taught by Nat Seymour, local professional photographer and documentarian. A FREE, EDUCATIONAL EVENT ON TEEN SUICIDE PREVENTION:  13 Reasons Why...To Have a Conversation with Your Child   This is a free, educational event for parents that will facilitate a conversation around the second season of Netflix's 13 Reasons Why and offer parents resources to engage with their child on the topics of suicide, depression, and anxiety; and how our community and schools are responding to the increased risk. There will be four panelists: YES counselor Michelle Brode, Megan Kennedy from the University of Washington who has been developing a comprehensive suicide prevention plan, Matt Gillingham Director of Student Services at Lake Washington School District, and Renee Jones and Cailyn Griffith from the Crisis Clinic. The event is on Monday, June 4th, 6-7:30 PM at the YES offices in Bellevue (right in Crossroads Park.) Space is limited, so RSVP here to claim a seat!
