"My wife and I chose St. Andrews the same way that my father picked St. Andrew's for me back in 1979. We were looking for a school that would have smaller classes and focus on special learning skill that would meet the needs of our son AJ '21. With the smaller classes and the outstanding faculty dedicated to the students' needs makes St. Andrew's a perfect fit.   We couldn't be happier."

"I chose St. Andrews for Evan because after bouncing around from state to state with my job, I really wanted him to have a middle school experience in a secure and supportive environment. To me, St. Andrew's specializes in confidence building, which is critical for children as they make the transition from child to young adult. St. Andrew's teaches the steps to success in a way that integrates academics with physical, emotional and social growth. The school has the secret sauce; it's evident already in my son's attitude toward school and his overall demeanor. I'm so happy he's at St. Andrew's and I can really see a bright future for Evan ahead.
Cyd McKenna '88

"We chose St. Andrew's for our daughter, Faith '19, because she was really struggling with self-confidence and fitting into the public school setting. These challenges were mainly because of her learning differences. She always felt different from the other kids, and that was really hard for a young adolescent. For her education, we knew she needed something different. Faith needed the environment of St. Andrew's. One that fosters the unique gifts of each and every student. From my own personal experience at St. Andrew's, I knew wholeheartedly she would thrive there. And thriving she is! Faith has discovered her unbelievable talents in the arts, and this year has been selected to play a lead role in the school's upcoming musical  You're a Good Man Charlie Brown on November 10 and 11. Faith loves all the relationships she has made at St. Andrew's and in her words, "she now feels safe to be herself".

Rules of the Woodshop!
When I first started working at St Andrew's in 1981, I was already close with George Bandel, the woodshop and English teacher. Naturally I would go to the woodshop to visit him. On the blackboard written with yellow chalk  were    the rules of the woodshop. They helped set the tone in the shop and these words seemed to be highly regarded. Even Steve Sorin who was director of admissions would bring perspective families in the the shop and show them the rules. I'm sure they made a positive impact on those families. George told me that a student had written them on the board and he couldn't erase them. Many years later I was visiting Bill Coyle at the maintenance barn and he showed me the same list of rules hanging on the wall on a small piece of faded paper, and I thought "ah that's where the student got those words". So almost forty years later these words still have impact on the St. Andrew's students. Thank you George and the unknown student.
