Access to Care among Children with Disabilities in the MassHealth CommonHealth Buy-In Program Paper

This paper published in the Journal of Child Health Care describes the process and results of a survey of parents and caregivers whose children with disabilities were enrolled in CommonHealth, the Massachusetts Medicaid Buy-in program. Results suggest that the MassHealth CommonHealth program improves access to care for children with disabilities overall; however, the article identifies barriers to address in five domains to further improve accessibility. Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs National Research Network was established with the goal of creating a national , family-engaged CYSHCN research network . Meg Comeau, co-principal investigator of the Catalyst Center, is a member of the steering committee.

It is a network of committed researchers, families, clinicians, and administrative and policy partners who work together strategically to accelerate the generation and application of knowledge needed to best help CYSHCN and their families. They strive to not only conduct nationally relevant health systems research, but also to increase research capacity by training emerging CYSHCN investigators.
