Memorial Event For John K. Fitzgerald
Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 11 A.M
As an acknowledgement of years of dedicated service to the patrons of the Tiverton Public Library, (through numerous donations) an engraved stone bench and two magnolia trees will be installed on the grounds honoring our former colleague John K. Fitzgerald. Not only was he a great librarian but a wonderful human being always ready to help everyone. On Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 11 A.M. a dedication will be held to which everyone is invited. It is our sincere hope people will utilize the bench to enjoy the nature that surrounds us, which was one of John's pleasures. He left us too soon but will remain in the hearts and minds of all who knew him.
Books Donated by Tiverton High School Class of 1982 in Memory of Librarian John Fitzgerald
Earlier this year, the Tiverton High School Class of 1982 presented the Friends of Tiverton Libraries with a donation to be used as a tribute to their classmate Tiverton Librarian John Fitzgerald who passed away in 2017. John was a constant presence at the Tiverton Essex and the new Tiverton Public Library, and his dedication and caring touched so many.
The Friends used the funds to purchase a collection of books reflecting John's personality and interests. Recently retired Librarian Prudence Fallon, who knew John well, selected books with a view to what John would have loved to share - subjects from Abraham Lincoln to true crime to local history and Rock and Roll.

Here. A memorial bookplate was placed in each item designating the Tiverton High School Class of 1982 as the donor.
Beginning June 1, 2018, patrons will be able to hold or borrow any of these books. Don't forget that holds may be placed for items already in circulation, and with a library card, you can reserve books online using the library catalog at tivertonlibrary.org.

ADULT EVENTS
Audiobook Narrator Booktalk
June is Audiobook Month. Whether you already love them, or you're not quite sure what all the hype is about, we invite you to try an audiobook this month. Stop inside the library or visit our website (tivertonlibrary.org) to download one for free to your tablet or smartphone using your library card! To kick off the month long celebration of spoken word, we'll be sitting down with Audiobook narrator, Erin Fossa. She'll give us a behind the scenes look at what it takes to create the Audiobook version of your favorite book. She may even give us a sneak preview performance of something she's working on! This talk will be presented through a Google Hangout. If you can't make it to the library and would like to participate from home, please contact Emily at [email protected] to be invited. Thomas Brandy: Local Author Talk
Former Tiverton resident, Thomas Brandy is returning to the East Coast to share his debut novel Robert's Wings. Mr. Brandy tells a compelling story of civilian volunteers in World War II set primarily in Tiverton, RI. Mr. Brandy will present about his novel at the Tiverton Public Library on Thursday, June 7th at 6:30pm. Following his presentation will be a book signing.
Kids are invited to bring their fathers and father figures to the library on Saturday, June 16th for some donuts. This drop-in program will be from 10am to 11am on a first come first serve basis. Thank you to Sip and Dip for their generous donation of donuts for this event!

TEEN EVENTS
Teen Advisory Board
Tuesday, June 5, 6-7 PM in the Teen Room
Come hang out and discuss titles that you are reading, what you would like to see happen at the library, and eat some snacks! Earn a community service hour for attending! Participation is limited to patrons in Grades 6 through 12.
Friday, June 15, 3:30-4:30 PM in the Teen Room
Monthly Anime & Manga meet up is still meeting! Join other interested teens in lively discussion, anime viewing, craft making, and snack eating! Participation is limited to patrons in Grades 6 through 12.
Second Thursday of each month from 6-7 PM
Bring whatever you're reading (have read) and discuss it (even better if you didn't like it!) with other readers. Snacks provided! Participation is limited to patrons in Grades 6 through 12.
Teen Summer Reading Registration Week
Decorate Cupcakes on June 28th at 6pm and compete for prizes. Everyone walks away with a cupcake to eat. Program is limited to students going into grades 6 through 12. Due to supplies, registration is required and space will be limited. Students can register for this program at the information desk or by calling the library.
Join our Technology Librarian Sam for a computer autopsy on Saturday, June 30th at 11am. Take apart a computer and learn about its guts, nuts, and bolts. Participation is limited to students entering into grades 6 through 12. Space is limited, registration is required. Students can register for this event at the Information Desk or by calling the library.

Drop into the Teen Room between 2pm and 6pm to do a craft activity. Don't have time to stay? Take the instructions home with you and complete the activity on your own time! Earn a summer reading raffle ticket either way!

CS First Club: Music & Sound
Thursdays 3 - 4pm, 28th June - 16th August, 2018
Join our librarians, Meg and Sam, for an 8 week course on learning how computer programming is used to create music. We will discover how to compose music, create sound effects and make a video. This eight week program is designed for children entering 4th-6th grade. Space is limited-registration required.

Little Ladybug is hosting a library party to celebrate the start of summer. Stop by to register for the Summer Reading Program and pick up your game card. While you're here enjoy a variety of bug-tastic crafts, games and activities on the library lawn.

A Rockin' Reading Bag

Kids entering 1st - 5th grade.
Stop by the children's room to register for the Summer Reading Program and receive a reading bag filled with a few surprises. Then visit the activity room to give your rockin' new tote some personal flair. Please dress for mess - we will be working with materials that may stain clothing!
Bags will be available to readers entering 1st - 5th grade while supplies last.
Pebble Painting Party
Saturday, June 23rd
Children's Activity Room/ Library Lawn
10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
This program is recommended for ages 3+. Please bring your imagination and some pebbles to decorate for the library rock garden. We will be hosting paint parties throughout the summer as we build a painted pebble pathway through our children's garden.

Pet Rocks
Wednesday, June 27th

Two Times: 10 - 11 a.m. & 3 - 4 p.m.
This program is recommended for ages 3+. Come create your own pet rock. Pick a pebble from our pool. Then use some art supplies to give it personality, including a rockin' hairdo.
Circus Dynamics
Special Guest Performance - Join us at the library for a vaudeville style juggling and variety show with Circus Dynamics.

Stop in talk about your favorite apps for your smartphone or tablet. Bring your own device and ideas to share. This session's topic will be "Social Media apps.
